You can create to-dos within a document and export all of them to Reminders, which is incredibly useful for anyone taking notes in a meeting.The killer feature for 1Writer is its automation capabilities. Unlike competitors such as Editorial, which uses Python as a way of building extensions, 1Writer uses JavaScript. This has pros and cons. Obviously, JavaScript is extremely well known, with a broad developer base. On the other hand, it’s not as powerful as Python. For example, it can’t access the native Twitter features in iOS, which is possible with Python.

That said, it’s still capable of doing amazing things. Check out the 1Writer Actions directory and you’ll find Actions that automate complex tasks such as posting to Medium, sending to Pastebin, as well as simpler stuff such as finding and replacing text. The drawback of Actions is there’s no easy way to access them.All Actions live under a single modal pop-up, and you can’t add them to a quick-access option on the keyboard. This means they’re less useful for jobs you’re likely to perform frequently.

1Writer is a well-thought-out and powerful text editor, which will only get more powerful as users expand its capabilities with Actions. It’s not perfect, but if you want a text editor that makes the most of iOS 9, it’s your best choice.When it comes to laptops, students have specific requirements. They need a model that’s lightweight and portable, but also one that’s built for life at school or college. They need something with the power to handle classroom applications, but with the battery life to last the whole working day. They might benefit from touchscreens or convertible form factors, but a comfortable keyboard is a must for coursework. Most of all, students need all these features at an affordable price.

The good news is that it isn’t necessary to pay out a fortune for a decent student laptop. Appropriate models are available for well below £500, and some as low as £200 if you’re prepared to compromise on performance, storage capacity or screen size. On savait la convergence l'un des tenants du "nouveau" Microsoft, et cette philosophie se concrétise plus que jamais avec Windows 10. Le système d'exploitation, qui fait directement suite à Windows 8.1, sera décliné sur tous les types d'appareils du marché : ordinateurs, tablettes, téléphones, et même la console de jeux Xbox One. Grâce à la fonctionnalité Continuum, le système pourra passer instantanément d'un mode tactile à un mode clavier/souris dès qu'il détectera la connexion ou déconnexion des périphériques en question. Microsoft a ainsi tout particulièrement adapté Windows aux appareils 2-en-1, dont ses tablettes Surface Pro sont parmi les exemples les plus frappants.

Microsoft a essentiellement reproduit avec son système d'exploitation l'équivalent du "responsive design" utilisé sur le web. Windows 10 s'adapte naturellement et dynamiquement à n'importe quelle taille d'écran mais aussi à n'importe quelle méthode d'interaction (clavier/souris, vocale, tactile, stylet). La grande révélation de la conférence a été Windows Holographic, que Microsoft développait en secret depuis des années. Il s'agit d'un framework de réalité augmentée qui sera natif à toutes les versions de Windows 10 et compatible avec toutes les applications universelles. Et pour que chacun puisse en faire bon usage, Microsoft a également créé HoloLens, un casque équipé de verres transparents sur lesquels se dessinent les hologrammes, mélangeant ainsi le réel et le virtuel. Le casque reconnaît la voix et comprend les commandes vocales. Il gère également le son 3D pour conférer à l'utilisateur une expérience la plus complète possible.

HoloLens est un ordinateur à part entière, un objet complètement autonome capable de fonctionner n'importe où, sans caméra, sans fil, sans smartphone associé ni aucune connexion particulière. Microsoft a d'ailleurs insisté lors de la conférence sur les efforts que ce développement lui a coûté, indiquant notamment que ses ingénieurs ont développé un nouveau type de processeur dédié pour l'appareil, un Holographic Processing Unit (HPU). Pour faire la démonstration des capacités de son système, Microsoft a aussi conçu HoloStudio, sorte de MS Paint de la réalité augmentée. Cette application permet de rapidement créer et de manipuler un objet en 3D. Alex Kipman, le responsable du projet, l'a comparé à un genre de "prévisualisation avant impression 3D", et a montré lors de la conférence comment un petit drone quadricoptère pouvait rapidement passer du virtuel au réel de cette manière.

Ces innovations (Windows Holographic et HoloLens) sont le résultat d'un partenariat avec un organisme prestigieux : le laboratoire JPL de la Nasa. Ses ingénieurs s'en servent d'ores et déjà pour visualiser Mars comme jamais auparavant. Microsoft a invité tous les développeurs à s'emparer de cette nouvelle plate-forme, et notamment ceux travaillant déjà sur Oculus Rift, Magic Leap ou Google Glass. Windows Holographic et HoloLens seront disponibles "dans la même période" que Windows 10, d'après Microsoft. Autre produit que personne n'attendait : la Surface Hub, un ordinateur tout-en-un (l'ordinateur est inclus dans l'écran) de 84 pouces doté d'une résolution 4K (3840 x 2160). La Surface Hub ambitionne de remplacer à la fois le tableau blanc, le vidéoprojecteur et la visioconférence. Elle est pour cela équipée de divers capteurs, microphones, caméras, haut-parleurs, de connexions WiFi, Bluetooth et NFC... Et tourne bien sûr sous Windows 10.

Plusieurs interlocuteurs, locaux (chacun sur son ordinateur) ou distants, peuvent interagir avec en temps réel, que ce soit au clavier, à la souris, avec un stylet ou directement avec les doigts. L'écran est partagé et la communication se fait nativement via Skype for Business (anciennement Lync). Cerise sur le gâteau, la Surface Hub peut envoyer directement par mail le résultat du travail effectué lors de la session à tous les intervenants. L'autre révolution est dans le business model : Microsoft veut unifier Windows au point de presque en abolir les versions. Pour ce faire, l'entreprise a décidé d'offrir la mise à jour depuis les appareils utilisant Windows 8.1, Windows Phone 8.1, mais également Windows 7. Terry Myerson, le vice président en charge des systèmes d'exploitation, expliquait sur scène que Microsoft voit désormais Windows comme un service.

Un positionnement stratégique qui permettra à l'entreprise d'emmener sa clientèle vers ses produits les plus récents et d'attirer davantage de développeurs vers son écosystème mobile grâce au 1,5 milliard d'utilisateurs de Windows à travers le monde.
Cette déclinaison d'un seul et même système permettra une compatibilité totale des applications sur de multiples appareils. Le même code pour toutes les versions. Ainsi, la version tactile de la suite Office disposera des mêmes fonctionnalités et de la même identité visuelle sur téléphone et tablette que sur PC : outils complexes, fonctions avancées, travail collaboratif, impression de documents... y compris pour le client email Outlook et le calendrier associé, très utilisés en entreprise. Les emails rédigés sur un smartphone seront désormais gérés par Word, comme sur ordinateur.

D'autres applications comme les cartes, le service Bing Music ou un gestionnaire de photos sont également incluses. Une recherche d'itinéraire sur un ordinateur pourra par exemple être communiquée automatiquement à un smartphone. Les photos seront synchronisées entre tous les appareils et présentées intelligemment, l'application créant d'elle-même des albums en fonction de certains critères (lieu, date, personnes présentes) et en éliminant les doublons. Le centre de notification sera également commun à tous les systèmes : supprimer une notification sur son smartphone la supprimera également sur son ordinateur.

Microsoft a annoncé aussi la sortie d'un nouveau client de messagerie instantanée qui intégrera plusieurs services différents en une seule expérience unifiée, sans donner davantage de précisions. Les amateurs de jeux vidéo ne sont pas en reste avec Windows 10. Une application universelle Xbox a été développée pour Windows qui permettra d'accéder à toutes les fonctionnalités de la console. Flux d'activité, messages, photos et vidéos... Tout sera synchronisé. L'application n'est pas réservée qu'à certains jeux : tous les titres sont compatibles, y compris ceux achetés sur Steam. Mais les principales annonces étaient la compatibilité multijoueurs entre la Xbox et le PC, et la possibilité de jouer à des jeux Xbox One (même exclusifs à la console) sur son ordinateur grâce à un système de transmission vidéo.

Si les applications Xbox viennent à Windows, le contraire est aussi vrai. Toute application Windows 10 sera compatible Xbox, et même si Phil Spencer, le directeur de la division Xbox, ne croit pas au succès d'Excel sur la Xbox, il a invité les développeurs a y porter leurs applications. Microsoft a également présenté DirectX 12, nouvelle version de son API multimédia. Composant essentiel d'une majorité de jeux, DirectX 12 marquera un tournant en donnant aux développeurs un accès beaucoup plus proche de la couche matérielle. Non content d'être plus puissant que DirectX 11, cette nouvelle mouture a également été pensée pour les machines à l'autonomie limitée car utilisant des batteries. DirectX 12 consomme ainsi 50% moins d'énergie que son prédécesseur. Une présentation ponctuée par l'annonce du support de DirectX 12 par l'environnement de développement Unity, très prisé des développeurs indépendants.

Pour parer à la baisse de popularité d'Internet Explorer face à la concurrence de Chrome et Firefox, Microsoft a développé un nouveau navigateur : le projet Spartan. Et il porte bien son nom : il utilise un nouveau moteur de rendu propriétaire qui le rend plus léger, agile et sécurisé que son ainé. Il dispose également de nouvelles fonctionnalités, notamment la capacité de "geler" une page web pour y faire des annotations (soit manuscrites, soit sous forme de commentaires) ou en extraire des morceaux, puis l'enregistrer en local ou la partager.

Kopers van de Dell Latitude 6430u klagen dat de laptop stinkt naar kattenurine. De geur zou zo ernstig zijn, dat een van de kopers de laptop niet durft mee te nemen. Dell heeft het probleem bevestigd, en werkt aan een oplossing.Er zijn geruchten online verschenen over AMD's Carrizo-apu's, die de huidige Kaveri-generatie in 2015 moeten opvolgen. De chips krijgen niet alleen ondersteuning voor ddr3 maar ook voor ddr4. Apu's voor de laptop krijgen geïntegreerde i/o-connectiviteit.De claims komen van Bright Side of News, die al een vroege versie van de BIOS & Kernel Developer's Guide zou hebben ingezien. Bij Carrizo zal AMD de overstap van de Steamroller- naar de Excavator-cores maken, die onder andere ondersteuning voor instructiesets krijgen die Intels Haswell ook bevat, zoals avx2, bmi2, movbe en rdrand. Carrizo wordt nog steeds op 28nm geproduceerd en schokkende veranderingen op gpu-gebied zouden dan ook niet te verwachten zijn: net als Kaveri gaan de chips over Volcanic Island-gpu's beschikken.

Wel zijn er veranderingen bij de geheugencontroller: die zou zowel ddr3 als ddr4 gaan ondersteunen. Bij de gesoldeerde versies voor laptops zouden de apu's over een geïntegreerde fch gaan beschikken, waarbij de i/o voorziet in onder andere twee sata 6Gbit/s-, vier usb 3.0- en acht usb 2.0-poorten. Bij desktops zouden Carrizo-chips overweg kunnen met FM2+-sockets en de interne FCH zou dan uitgeschakeld worden. Onduidelijk is hoe het zit met ondersteuning voor bestaande moederborden in combinatie met de ddr4-ondersteuning. Verder zou het aantal pci-e-lanes opvallend genoeg teruggebracht worden van 24 naar 16.

De C740 zou de kleinere C740-Chromebook eveneens met een Broadwell-processor willen uitrusten. Dat gaat volgens de geruchten gepaard met 2GB of 4GB aan werkgeheugen. De gebruiker zou verder de keuze hebben uit een ssd van 16GB of 32GB. Het apparaat heeft volgens de bron een schermdoorsnede van 11,6 inch met een resolutie van 1366x768. De C740 beschikt verder over bluetooth 4.0, een sd-kaartlezer, usb 3.0-aansluitingen en een hdmi-poort. De accu is volgens de bron goed voor een uithoudingsvermogen van circa 8,5 uur. De C740 zou volgens de bron extra stevig zijn, waarbij het onder andere om de scharnieren zou gaan.

Beide modellen verschijnen volgens OMG Chrome in maart 2015. De site doelt dan echter op de Verenigde Staten en het is onduidelijk of, en zo ja wanneer, andere werelddelen volgen. De C740 met 2GB ram en de 16GB-ssd moet een adviesprijs van 259 dollar krijgen, omgerekend ongeveer 208 euro. De variant met 4GB ram en een 32GB-sdd zou 279 dollar kosten, ofwel zo'n 224 euro.Nieuwe cijfers van marktonderzoekers Gartner en IDC laten zien dat de pc-markt na een korte opleving weer is gekrompen in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar. Daarmee zou de markt weer op het niveau liggen van begin 2009.Volgens Gartner zijn er in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar 71,7 miljoen pc's verkocht, een daling van 5,2 procent ten opzichte van het eerste kwartaal van 2014. IDC komt uit op 68,5 miljoen stuks, wat neerkomt op een daling van 6,7 procent.

De daling in de pc-verkopen is vooral het gevolg van verminderde verkoopaantallen van desktopsystemen. Laptops, hybride systemen en Windows-tablets zouden nog wel een stijging laten zien. Gartner stelt dat de daling van de desktopverkoop vooral toegeschreven kan worden aan het 'Windows XP-effect', waarbij bedrijven vorig jaar nog pc's vervingen die op het door Microsoft uitgefaseerde besturingssysteem draaiden.Lenovo en HP, wereldwijd de nummer een en twee, zijn uitzonderingen. Bij hen nam de verkoop van desktop-pc's juist iets toe, met respectievelijk 5,7 en 2,5 procent. Bij met name Acer en Dell namen de verkopen met verscheidene procenten af. Deze merken leverden dus marktaandeel in.

Ondanks de dalende pc-verkopen is er volgens Gartner en IDC nog geen reden om de alarmbel te luiden. Zo verwachten de marktonderzoekers dat de komst van Windows 10 later dit jaar tot gevolg zal hebben dat de pc-verkopen stabiliseren.
Google gaat in november naar verluidt een eigen smartbook met Chrome OS uitbrengen. Op zijn vroegst in december komen andere fabrikanten als Acer en HP met kleine notebooks die met het Chrome-besturingssysteem zijn uitgerust.Google zou bij zijn smartbook eenzelfde strategie hanteren als bij de Nexus One. Het bedrijf zou een model onder eigen naam uitbrengen om de mogelijkheden te laten zien en de markt warm te maken. Het eerste Chrome OS-apparaat zou een smartbook zijn, aangezien dit met een arm-processor zou worden uitgerust. Smartbooks bieden over het algemeen een langere accuduur en zijn ook vaak kleiner en dunner. Netbooks bevatten traditioneel Atom-processors van Intel. Overigens spraken eerdere berichten over een Google-tablet met Chrome OS.

Na de release van Googles Chrome OS-model volgen Acer en HP, schrijft Digitimes, maar deze partijen zouden eerst de kat uit de boom willen kijken en op zijn vroegst in december hun kleine notebooks gaan introduceren. Asus neemt volgens de Taiwanese site een afwachtende houding aan en heeft nog geen release van modellen gepland.Na de aankondiging van Chrome OS vorig jaar, werd reikhalzend naar de komst van Google op de markt voor besturingssystemen uitgekeken. De verwachtingen werden getemperd toen bleek dat Chrome OS een uitgekleed OS voor kleine notebooks en een variant op de Chrome-browser was. Ook lijkt de populariteit van netbooks tanende en hebben smartbooks de belofte nog niet waar kunnen maken, terwijl tablets juist aan populariteit lijken te winnen. De Chrome-browser is echter wel aan een opmars bezig en er lijkt ook ruimte te zijn voor een snelstartend OS voor smartbooks en netbooks.
Acer heeft in de VS een class action-rechtszaak over een Windows Vista-notebook met 1GB geheugen geschikt. Kopers van de notebook, die claimden dat Acer wist dat 1GB te weinig was om het OS soepel te draaien, krijgen extra geheugen, 10 dollar of een flashdisk van 16GB.

Acer biedt Amerikaanse klanten die in 2008 een Acer Aspire 4520-5458 met Windows Vista Premium kochten compensatie aan. Het gaat om ongeveer een miljoen klanten. Acer werd in 2009 aangeklaagd omdat het Taiwanese bedrijf de laptop had voorzien van 1GB, terwijl het zou weten dat deze geheugenhoeveelheid niet voldoende was om Vista Premium vloeiend en stabiel te draaien.Microsoft had bij de systeemeisen van het OS namelijk aanbevolen dat naast 1GB werkgeheugen ook 128MB geheugen voor de grafische kaart aanwezig moest zijn. Bij de Aspire-laptop had de GeForce 7000M-gpu echter geen dedicated geheugen, maar moest de grafische chip zich van het 1GB werkgeheugen bedienen. De rechtszaak kreeg de class action-status, wat inhoudt dat iedereen met dezelfde klacht zich bij de zaak kan voegen.

Gebruikers die de laptop nog hebben, kunnen aanspraak maken op 1GB- of 2GB-modules om het geheugen te upgraden. Ze kunnen echter ook kiezen voor uitkering van een bedrag van 10 dollar of een flashdrive van 16GB, schrijft Law360. Wie zijn laptop heeft laten repareren naar aanleiding van de trage werking, kan een schadevergoeding van maximaal 100 dollar krijgen. In totaal omvat het voorstel een bedrag van 20 miljoen dollar. Daarnaast eisen de advocaten van de klagende partij 2,7 miljoen dollar aan juridische kosten. Zotac heeft twee nieuwe kleine Zbox Nano-desktopsystemen aangekondigd. De fabrikant voorziet de mini-pc's van een Core i3 en Core i5 van de Broadwell-generatie. Ook beschikken ze over ondersteuning voor wifi-ac.

Acer heeft op de CES 2012 de tot nu toe dunste ultrabook met een dikte van 15mm aangekondigd. De Aspire S5 heeft een Intel Thunderbolt, maar ook een usb 3.0-poort en hdmi achter een uitschuifbaar deel aan de achterkant van de notebook.De Acer Aspire S5 is de opvolger van de S3 en Acer heeft het gewicht en de dikte nog iets terug weten te brengen. Het apparaat weegt 1,35 kilo en de dikte is 15mm, waarmee het volgens de fabrikant de dunste ultrabook ter wereld is. De S5 komt in het tweede kwartaal van 2012 uit, waarmee waarschijnlijk is dat de ultrabook met zuinige Ivy Bridge-processors uitgerust gaat worden. Daarnaast bevat de ultrabook een ssd met een nog onbekende capaciteit.Het is ook een van de eerste notebooks die met Intels snelle Thunderbolt-interface uitgerust gaat worden. Deze poort wordt net als de usb 3.0-poort en hdmi aan de achterkant geplaatst in een uitklapbaar deel, dat Acer Magic Flip i/o noemt.

De notebook wordt met Acers Green Instant On-technologie uitgerust die waarschijnlijk dankzij caching-geheugen een opstartijd van 1,5 seconden en een hibernate-accuduur van enkele weken zou bieden. Daarnaast heeft de notebook Always Connect, dat onder andere updates van Facebook, Twitter en Outlook op de achtergrond bijhoudt, ook als de notebook in slaapstand staat. Ook is de laptop ermee te ontwaken met behulp van een smartphone.Acer komt ook nog met 14- en 15-ultrabooks. In tweede helft dit jaar verwacht de fabrikant dat 25 tot 35 procent van zijn notebooklijn uit ultrabooks zal bestaan, zo vertelde, Jim Wong, vice-president van het bedrijf. Binnen twee jaar moeten ultrabooks van het bedrijf mainstream worden voor meerdere segmenten.Intel heeft op de CES prototypes van Ivy Bridge-ultrabooks en laptops met touchscreens getoond. Opvallendste model was de Nikiski, dat over een doorzichtig oppervlak beschikt, waarmee dichtgeklapt een additionele interface te bedienen is.

Mooley Eden, vice-president en hoofd van de PC Client Group bij Intel demonstreerde tijdens de persconferentie van het bedrijf de physicscapaciteiten en de DirectX 11-gamingcapaciteiten van de komende Ivy Bridge-ultrabooks. Een kleine ultrabook was met een racestuur en pedalen van Logitech verbonden en het apparaat bleek in staat een F1-racegame vloeiend af te spelen.Volgens Eden gaat de komende generatie ultrabooks maximaal 18 millimeter dik worden, waar de huidige grens op 20mm ligt. Ook het scherm worden dunner: 3mm. Er zouden voor dit jaar 75 verschillende ultrabook-ontwerpen in de pijplijn zitten, waarvan ook modellen met 14- en 15-schermdiagonalen.

Een van de belangrijkste nieuwe ontwikkelingen gaat volgens Eden de toevoeging van touch aan ultrabooks worden, waarbij uiteraard aan Windows 8 gerefereerd werd. Hij toonde daarbij een ultrabook met een touchscreen, terwijl ook een prototype met afneembaar scherm gedemonstreerd werd.Daarna liet de Intel-topman een slidermodel zien met uitschuifbaar touchscreen. Intel roept al langer dat touchscreens naar ultrabooks komen en ook moeten komende modellen meer met sensoren uitgerust worden. Het bedrijf liet op de CES een Asus UX31 zien die van een gyroscoop was voorzien zodat de gebruiker een vliegtuig kon bedienen door de ultrabook te kantelen en te draaien.

Meest in het oog springende demonstratie was die van de Nikiski. Dit is een door Intel ontworpen prototype dat in plaats van een touchpad een doorzichtige aanraakgevoelige strook heeft over de gehele lengte van de notebook. Opengeklapt dien de strook ook als touchpad. Als de gebruiker de Nikiski dichtklapt opent een applicatie achter de doorzichtige strook. Deze is via het touch-oppervlak te bedienen, zodat de gebruiker mail en afspraken kan bekijken, ook al is de notebook dichtgeklapt. Het doet daarmee denken aan het vrijwel geflopte SideShow van Windows, al betreft het hier geen additioneel scherm, maar het gewone laptopscherm met daarover de doorzichtige touchlaag. Plannen om het prototype naar de markt te brengen zijn er nog niet.

Tenslotte kondigde Intel een samenwerking met Nuance aan om ultrabooks te optimaliseren voor spraakherkenning. Nog dit jaar moet de samenwerking zijn eerste vruchten afwerpen.Razer voorziet de Blade van nieuwe hardware. De dunne gaminglaptop krijgt een quadcore processor en krijgt op het grafische vlak ook een upgrade. Tegelijkertijd heeft de fabrikant de laptop iets dunner en lichter gemaakt.Razer maakt bekend dat het de specificaties van zijn gaminglaptop Blade heeft opgefrist, meldt TechPowerUp. De nieuwe Blade is opgetrokken rond een nog ongespecificeerde Intel quadcore-processor, een Intel HM77-chipset, 8GB 1600Mhz ddr3-werkgeheugen en een Nvidia GeForce GTX 660M-gpu met 2GB dedicated videogeheugen. Het 17,3-scherm heeft een resolutie van 1920 bij 1080 pixels. Razer heeft de nieuwe Blade enigszins afgeslankt; de laptop weegt 2,99 kilogram en is 2,24 centimeter dik.

De nieuwe laptop van Razer is verder voorzien van een 500GB harde schijf met een rotatiesnelheid van 7200rpm en een 64GB cache-ssd. Connectiviteit is er in de vorm van drie usb 3.0-porten, een hdmi 1.4-uitgang en gigabit ethernet. Verder is er ondersteuning voor wifi a/g/n en bluetooth 4.0 aanwezig. Tot slot heeft de accu een capaciteit van 60Wh en ontbreekt de karakteristieke Switchblade user interface niet.De opgefriste Blade is te bestellen voor 2499 dollar en zal eind september geleverd worden aan Noord-Amerikaanse klanten. Of de laptop ook in de Europese winkelschappen komt te liggen, is nog niet bekendgemaakt door Razer.

Nvidia kondigt de nieuwe generatie Maxwell-gpu's op 9 september aan en tien dagen later volgt de introductie van high-endkaarten voor de desktop, die onder de namen GTX 980 en GTX 970 gaan verschijnen, beweert Videocardz. In oktober volgt een GTX 960.Met de naamgeving in de 900-serie, slaat Nvidia de 800-serie bij desktopkaarten over, schrijft Videocardz op basis van zijn bronnen. Bij laptops verscheen wel een 800M-generatie. Eerder beweerde de site nog dat de nieuwe Maxwell-kaarten voor de high-end onder de namen GTX 880 en 870 zouden verschijnen, maar recent zou Nvidia de beslissing hebben genomen de 800-serie over te slaan.Hiermee voorkomt het bedrijf dat de naamgeving van de desktop- en mobiele varianten door elkaar gaan lopen: bij de 800M-serie voor laptops beschikken de snelste kaarten nog over Kepler-gpu's. De 900-serie gaat in beide gevallen waarschijnlijk uit vooral Maxwell-kaarten bestaan.

Op 9 september zou Nvidia zijn nieuwe Maxwell-gpu's voor de high-end uit de doeken doen en op 19 september onthult het bedrijf vervolgens de GTX 970 en 980, waarbij ook de benchmarkresultaten vrijgegeven zouden mogen worden. Specificaties zijn nog niet officieel bekend, al is wel duidelijk dat de gpu's nog steeds op 28nm geproduceerd worden, net als de huidige generatie, dat de geheugenbus 256 bit breed is en dat er 4GB gddr5 aanwezig is bij de high-endkaarten. De type-aanduiding van de gpu zou GM204 zijn. Nvidia bracht eerder dit jaar al de GTX 750 en GTX 750 Ti met Maxwell-chips uit, maar dat waren mainstream-kaarten op basis van de eerste generatie van Maxwell.Acer brengt naar verluidt in maart 2015 twee nieuwe Chromebooks op de markt. De C910 zou een scherm van 15,6 inch hebben met een resolutie van 1920x1080 pixels of 1366x768 pixels. De kleinere C740 zou een 11,6-scherm bezitten en extra stevig zijn

Het zou om de eerste Chromebook met 15,6-scherm gaan; eerder verschenen wel 14-modellen van bijvoorbeeld HP.Het is nog onduidelijk of er een of twee C910-modellen zullen verschijnen. De site spreekt over een scherm van 15,6 inch en een resolutie van 1366x768 pixels of een resolutie van 1920x1080 pixels. Acer zou de C910 verder uitrusten met bluetooth 4.0, usb 3.0-aansluitingen en een hdmi-poort.

It’s bright, too, reaching a maximum brightness of 286cd/m2 – that’s plenty for use indoors – and the contrast ratio of 996:1 ensures that onscreen images are punchy and solid. Generally, it’s a decent screen all-round, with one drawback: it’s extremely reflective. Calling Cortana’s attention is indeed quick and easy, although how much you’ll actually use the feature is open to debate.

Risulta molto interessante anche la fotocamera, che riprende una configurazione che avevamo già visto su Huawei P9. Sulla parte posteriore troviamo due moduli distinti, uno con sensore RGB tradizionale, l'altro con un sensore monocromo in grado di catturare un quantitativo di luce superiore rispetto al primo. Abbinando i risultati dei due moduli è possibile migliorare la qualità degli scatti al buio pur non disponendo della stabilizzazione ottica delle immagini presente su vari modelli della concorrenza. La realtà dei fatti è leggermente diversa: Honor 8 scatta in maniera eccellente quando le condizioni di luce lo permettono, ma al buio il risultato finale è buono, ma non paragonabile ad altri dispositivi di fascia alta. Per uno smartphone da 399 euro comunque i risultati sono davvero encomiabili.Cliccando sulle foto si apre un'anteprima a pieno schermo con l'immagine a risoluzione originale.

Sicuramente d'impatto anche il discorso del bokeh applicabile unendo i dati catturati dai due moduli della fotocamera posteriore. Qui di seguito riportiamo alcuni scatti effettuati con la modalità attiva in situazioni ottimali: se non si esagera troppo con l'effetto sfocato (è possibile simulare un diaframma con apertura f/0.95 secondo la società) il risultato finale è senza dubbio gradevole e d'impatto soprattutto in concomitanza di superfici lineari e ben contrastate. In caso contrario è possibile ravvisare alcuni artefatti nelle immagini, così come accade in molte altre soluzioni simili della concorrenza.Discorso diverso per i video, soprattutto quelli registrati a 60fps. Le critiche sono soprattutto rivolte alla stabilizzazione elettronica, non paragonabile a quella dei dispositivi di fascia alta. Il risultato finale è senza dubbio migliorabile, con i video che non raggiungono nemmeno lontanamente l'elevata qualità che abbiamo verificato nel comparto fotografico. Di seguito un esempio.

Districarsi nella giungla dei dispositivi Android diventa sempre più arduo. Honor 8 infatti si va ad insediare in una fascia di mercato più bassa rispetto ai contenuti tecnici che offre: costa 399 euro ma con qualche licenza può essere paragonato benissimo ad un Galaxy S7, un LG G5 o ad un HTC 10. Si scontra ancora più da vicino con OnePlus 3, che comunque presenta display e dimensioni leggermente più ampi. Tutto questo senza considerare i dispositivi della passata generazione: è sufficiente farsi un giro online per verificare a che prezzo si trova oggi un Galaxy S6, dispositivo che, nonostante le mancanze nella scheda tecnica, si rivela ancora oggi una scelta ottimale anche per il "power-user".

Honor 8 risulta molto conveniente se consideriamo i listini di tutti gli smartphone che abbiamo citato: a 399 euro è semplicemente invidiabile se consideriamo che i concorrenti venivano proposti al lancio a cifre vicine ai 700€. Tuttavia arriva in un periodo in cui molti di quegli smartphone si trovano più che scontati sui vari rivenditori online, in alcuni casi anche a prezzi inferiori. Il nuovo smartphone cinese ha un ottimo display e prestazioni estremamente elevate, presentandosi sempre decisamente reattivo nel caricamento a freddo delle applicazioni e nella gestione delle app in background. Ha anche una buona durata della batteria, e le due fotocamere non fanno rimpiangere troppo altri top di gamma.

Purtroppo o per fortuna, punti di vista, i prezzi degli altri top di gamma si fanno sempre più interessanti. Ad esempio i succitati LG G5 e Galaxy S6, smartphone che, autonomia a parte, sono superiori in molti aspetti rispetto ad Honor 8, hanno street price molto simili e forse anche più interessanti in relazione alle caratteristiche tecniche. Anche Honor 8 ha comunque qualche freccia nel suo arco: fra i tre è probabilmente lo smartphone più curato sul piano estetico con i cinesi che hanno fatto un salto in avanti enorme rispetto ai precedenti modelli. La scocca in vetro traslucida, soprattutto nel colore blu, fa la sua figura e la fotocamera (molto buona) non è sporgente nonostante il profilo estremamente esile del dispositivo.

Honor 8 può tranquillamente sfidare i top di gamma più blasonati di questa generazione senza soffrire troppo, tuttavia non riesce a raggiungerli del tutto in termini generici. Non gioca a favore l'aumento del prezzo sul mercato italiano, che passa a 399 euro, ma se lo trovate scontato anche solamente di 50 euro si trasforma in un vero e proprio best-buy, capace di dare del filo da torcere anche ai dispositivi migliori in assoluto della stessa generazione.GoPro ha annunciato quest'oggi la nuova gamma di action camera della famiglia HERO, affiancando il proprio primo drone che prende il nome di Karma e che da tempo era atteso al debutto sul mercato. Con l'annuncio odierno l'azienda introduce una notevole semplificazione della propria gamma di action cam, portandone il numero totale di modelli a 3 soli e offrendo ai clienti una migliore chiarezza nella scelta dalla proposta più economica a quella top di gamma.

Contestualmente GoPro espande il proprio ambito di attività con il drone Karma, offerto in differenti versioni a seconda dell'abbinamento con una delle action camera GoPro.E' questa la nuova proposta top di gamma, che di fatto unisce le caratteristiche tecniche dei modelli Hero4 Black e Hero4 Silver di precedente generazione implementando nuove funzionalità che per la prima volta entrano nell'ecosistema GoPro Hero. Troviamo quindi la possibilità di registrare video a risoluzione 4K sino a 30 frames al secondo, in abbinamento a pannello posteriore di tipo touchscreen da 2 pollici di diagonale con il quale poter governare le principali funzioni della action camera.

L'aspetto esteriore cambia leggermente rispetto alle precedenti soluzioni Hero, grazie anche alla impermeabilizzazione che ora è piena e non richiede più un case accessorio: GoPro certifica Hero5 Black per il funzionamento sino a 10 metri di profondità. Hero5 Black permette di scattare fotografie sino a 12 Mpixel, fornendo all'utente anche il file in formato RAW. Non manca una modalità HDR, indicata con il nome di WDR, mentre varie migliorie sono state riservate alla ripresa video come l'implementazione di un sistema di stabilizzazione elettronico del flusso video e la presenza di altoparlanti stereo e di un sistema di riduzione del rumore generato dal vento.

Il sistema di stabilizzazione elettronica delle riprese video opera a livello software ed è disponibile sino alla risoluzione video Full HD. La action camera riprende a 4K e via software l'immagine viene scalata alla risoluzione Full HD, sfruttando la superiore risoluzione sorgente per bilanciare le vibrazioni generate durante la ripresa. Altra importante novità di Hero5 Black è l'integrazione del GPS, che per il momento è utilizzato per registrare nei video la posizione geografica nella quale si trova la action camera.Hero5 Black sarà in vendita in Italia a partire dal 2 ottobre, ad un prezzo consigliato pari a 429,99€ tasse incluse; in USA il prezzo retail consigliato è di 399 dollari, in questo caso tasse escluse.Questa action cam parte dalla base del modello Hero4 Session, lasciandone invariate le dimensioni esterne ma introducendo varie novità sotto la scocca. Batteria Asus Eee PC 1015PDG

Hasselblad è tanto orgogliosa della sua indipendenza da stampigliarla sul corpo macchina: HANDMADE IN SWEDEN. Con la stessa forza è stata ribadita la totale indipendenza da Fujifilm per questo progetto, ma il flash è Nikon-compatibile. Lampeggiatori di questo marchio, come qualunque altro dedicato, ad esempio Metz, potranno essere usati anche sulla X1D.
La batteria da 3200 mAh dovrebbero garantire buona autonomia, anche se questa ancora non può essere accertata. Due sportellini sul lato sinistro coprono il doppio slot SD, ingresso e uscita cuffie, USB 3 e mini HDMI.
Lo scatto ha un feeling particolare, a causa dell'otturatore centrale. Buona impressione ci hanno fatto sia il mirino sia la messa a fuoco, ma su quest'ultimo punto preferiamo non addentrarci fino a che non potremo testare un esemplare definitivo - ogni dato pubblicabile oggi verrebbe superato nel prossimo futuro.

La Nikon D750 è un'avanzata reflex Full Frame (FX nel gergo Nikon) che si posiziona, nella gamma di questo produttore, tra la più economica D610 e la big megapixel D810. È considerata da molti, e con buona ragione, l'erede spirituale dell'amatissima D700, la prima Full Frame "abbordabile" proposta da Nikon nel 2008. La D750 arriva però a 6 anni dopo l'introduzione della D700, e 3 anni dopo la sua uscita di produzione. Si tratta quindi di una fotocamera molto diversa - non un'evoluzione, ma un prodotto completamente riprogettato.Sotto molti aspetti si tratta di una soluzione intermedia tra la D610 e la D810. Il sensore da 24,3 Mpixel è simile a quello della D610, ma il processore d'immagine di una generazione successiva (EXPEED 4) ne migliora il comportamento ad alti ISO, che ovviamente risulta superiore anche a quello della D810 (stesso processore, ma sensore di maggiore risoluzione). Anche la cadenza di scatto della D750 è leggermente superiore a quelle di entrambe le sorelle (6,5 fps).
Dalla D810 ha ereditato il modulo esposimetrico 3D Colour Matrix III da 91.000 pixel e il modulo AF Multi-CAM 3500 a 51 punti, ma quest'ultimo è stato affinato per poter lavorare in condizioni di luce peggiori e raggiunge qui i -3EV. Purtroppo, l'otturatore è più simile a quello della D610: arriva a 1/4000s anziché a 1/8000s come quello della D810, è garantito per 150.000 cicli (cifra tipica dei modelli non professionali) e il tempo syncro flash è 1/200s anziché 1/250s. Per questo, e per altri particolari costruttivi come lo snello design monoscocca, il display orientabile e il Wi-Fi integrato, la D750 appare indirizzata più agli appassionati che ai professionisti. Per l'appassionato, potrebbe però trattarsi di una fotocamera davvero ideale, perfetto compromesso tra potenza, versatilità, qualità d'immagine e ... costo.

A proposito di costo, i prezzi ufficiali per questa fotocamera sono pari a 2.190 Euro per il solo corpo e 2.690 Euro per il kit con 24-85mmVR. Complice anche il fatto che non si tratta di un modello recentissimo, è comunque probabile beneficiare di sconti e offerte speciali che portano il solo corpo sotto i 2000 Euro (1739 Euro il miglior prezzo rilevato online al momento della prova per la versione ufficiale Nital, riconoscibile dalla presenza di una scheda SD Lexar 8Gb 400x e dalla Nital Card che assicura 4 anni di garanzia). NVIDIA Shield Android TV è il culmine di un lungo progetto intrapreso dal noto produttore di chip video ormai diversi anni fa. Chi ha seguito questo percorso avrà notato che NVIDIA ha spesso proceduto per tentativi, sbagliando in certi casi, azzardando in altri. Ma i precedenti dispositivi della famiglia Shield si possono adesso considerare come delle tappe intermedie, mentre con Android TV, il set-top-box che finalmente arriva anche sul mercato italiano, il piano iniziale diventa più leggibile.

Un progetto che coinvolge NVIDIA GameStream, GeForce NOW, di cui abbiamo lungamente parlato in passato, Tegra, gli accessori Shield e molti altri aspetti. Adesso tutti racchiusi, nelle loro massime evoluzioni, dentro l'ecosistema che sta alla base della Android TV della famiglia Shield, in commercio a 199€ per quanto riguarda la versione con 16 GB di memoria flash integrata.Le modalità di diffusione dei contenuti di intrattenimento nelle case sono cambiate in maniera importante negli ultimi anni, congiuntamente all'arrivo delle connessioni internet a banda larga, sempre più efficaci in termini di velocità e reattività. Questo ha spinto molti produttori di hardware a realizzare dei dispositivi capaci di veicolare i media di intrattenimento diffusi che risiedono su internet e di farli giungere direttamente nel salotto di casa: il successo delle console come PS3 e Xbox 360 si spiega così, mentre successivamente molti altri produttori si sono lanciati nella diffusione di soluzioni specializzate nello streaming. Si pensi ad esempio ad Amazon Fire TV, a Chromecast o ad Apple TV.

Dispositivi molto diffusi negli Stati Uniti, dove i servizi come Netflix sono arrivati prima, ma che adesso cominciano a sbarcare anche in Europa. NVIDIA segue questo approccio, ma lo fa a modo suo: al solito, preferisce concentrarsi sulla potenza bruta dei chip presenti all'interno dei suoi dispositivi. Come dimostrano anche i nostri benchmark, NVIDIA Shield Android TV è uno dei dispositivi portatili più potenti tra quelli presenti attualmente sul mercato, e questo consente di ottenere risultati strabilianti anche sul fronte prettamente videoludico.

Se Android TV è il completamento di un percorso per quanto riguarda i servizi collaterali, costituisce anche un punto di approdo per la tecnologia Tegra, visto che è l'unico hardware dotato del processore Tegra più potente, ovvero X1. La principale differenza nell'approccio, quindi, tra la soluzione NVIDIA e le altre, che costituisce anche il valore aggiunto della piattaforma Shield per un certo tipo di utenza, riguarda proprio la potenza di calcolo supplementare che un hardware del genere è in grado di erogare. Rispetto a Chromecast, Apple TV e compagnia, quindi, si paga di più, ma si può affiancare al televisore del salotto un qualcosa che è capace di svolgere mansioni ben più articolate.

Tegra X1, ad esempio, può far girare videogiochi con grafica molto complessa, elaborandone la grafica completamente in locale e senza il supporto di altri strumenti di elaborazione. Titoli come Resident Evil 5 e Metal Gear Rising Revengeance, sebbene siano giochi usciti relativamente da poco, offrono su Shield Android TV una grafica paragonabile a quella delle console di precedente generazione, il che è un "achievement" sensazionale per NVIDIA e per il suo programma di sviluppo dell'hardware mobile.
Con Shield Android TV potrete giocare, senza fare uso della connessione a internet, anche a Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel e Doom 3 BFG Edition, tutti a 1080p e a 30fps, seppure con qualche dettaglio grafico in meno rispetto alle originali versioni per PC, come vedremo meglio dopo. Questo è possibile proprio grazie alla potenza di calcolo di Tegra X1, visto che questi giochi non funzionano con dispositivi dotati di tecnologie Tegra precedenti: Shield Android TV è l'unico hardware della famiglia Shield a essere in grado di farli girare.

Doom 3 BFG, Borderlands The Pre-sequel, Resident Evil 5 e Metal Gear Rising Revengeance sono infatti disponibili su Google Play in versioni ottimizzate appositamente per NVIDIA Shield Android TV. Questo riguarda principalmente la grafica, capace di sfruttare Tegra X1, ma anche le funzioni e il sistema di interfacciamento, ovvero lo Shield Controller. Tegra X1 è dotato di 256 CUDA core in totale rispetto ai 192 di Tegra K1 e basato sulla più avanzata architettura NVIDIA, Maxwell. Per la CPU troviamo invece un processore 8 core, 4 di tipo ARM Cortex-A57 e 4 ARM Cortex-A53 a 64-bit. Questo consente di gestire in locale anche il renderer desktop di Unreal Engine 4, grazie alla capacità del nuovo SoC di macinare fino a 1 teraflops di potenza (1,33 teraflops è la potenza massima teorica di Xbox One), e molti di più se si conta il supporto del cloud. Il SoC di Shield sarà abbinato a 3 GB di memoria di sistema e a 16 GB di memoria NAND Flash, con la possibilità di ospitare supporti microSD fino a 128 GB. Non mancha una porta Gigabit Ethernet, una HDMI 2.0 con supporto HDCP 2.2 e due porte USB 3.0. In fatto di audio, viene supportata la riproduzione 24-bit/192kHz tramite HDMI e USB. Gli standard Wi-Fi supportati sono, invece, 802.11ac 2x2 MIMO 2.4GHz e 5GHz. NVIDIA Shield offrirà anche un ricevitore IR per dispositivi come Logitech Harmony.

I tablet Android ‘’puri’’, ovvero i dispositivi realizzati come strumento di fruizione di contenuti, che si differenziano dai più versatili 2-in-1 (in larga misura basati su Windows), costituiscono una categoria di prodotto che non ha vita facile in un mercato sempre più affollato di proposte. Huawei con il MediaPad M2 10.0 punta alla multimedialità ed alla produttività, offrendo all’utente finali nuovi stimoli per prendere in considerazione l’acquisto di un tablet Android.Tratti distintivi del prodotto sono infatti lo stilo capacitivo realizzato con Wacom e un comparto multimediale che può contare, tra l’altro, sulla collaborazione con Harman Kardon grazie alla quale è stato possibile realizzare il sistema audio composto da quattro altoparlanti che, come come emerso nei test, offrono una prestazione superiore alla media.

Die Datenmengen von iFrame-Videos sind vergleichsweise gering, so dass das Copying zum Mac schnell und die Bildbearbeitung mit iMovie flüssig verläuft. Skype-Nutzer können die TA1 ausserdem als Webcam für ihre kostenfreien Video-Gespräche nutzen. In Windows-Umgebungen ist die TA1 zudem YouTube- und Facebook-ready. Sobald die TA1 mit einem PC verbunden wird, startet die auf der Kamera installierte Editiersoft-ware und Videos können ohne extra Browser direkt gepostet werden. Die kompakte TA1 im Palm-Format nimmt Full HD Videos (1920 x 1080/30p) in brillanter Bildqualität auf. Das verwendete MP4 Format bietet eine exzellente PC Kompatibilität und ist bestens geeignet, um klare, hochauflösende Aufnahmen auf einem PC zu betrachten oder über ein Netzwerk zu verteilen. Für alle Mac-Nutzer steht alternativ das iFrame Videoformat für Aufnahmen zur Wahl.

Die HD Mobil-Kamera TA1 nimmt Fotos mit bis zu 8 Megapixel auf, die aus 5 Millionen effektiven Pixeln interpoliert werden. Die detailreichen Fotos anzusehen, ist mit Panasonic denkbar leicht. Einfach die Speicherkarte mit den Bilddaten in den SD Karteneingang eines entsprechend ausgestatteten Viera Flachbildfernsehers einschieben und der Viera Image Viewer zeigt die Aufnahmen ohne Umwege auf dem Flatscreen an. Ganz ohne externe Geräte oder PC-Transfers können mit der TA1 Einzelbilder aus Videos abgespeichert werden. Hierfür genügt ein Druck auf die Foto-Taste sobald während der Wiedergabe das gewünschte Bild auf dem LCD-Monitor der TA1 erscheint. Mit iFrame stellt die TA1 ihren Anwendern eine Alternative zum MP4 Aufnahmeformat zur Wahl. Der Vorteil: Bei der Verwendung von iMovie bleibt der Inhalt bei der Bearbeitung im ursprünglichen Format erhalten. Die kleinen Dateigrössen des iFrame Formates begünstigen dabei einen schnellen Import der Videos. Filme können ohne Umschweife editiert und ins Internet oder auf ein portables Gerät geladen werden. Das iFrame Format basiert auf der H.264 Videokompression mit einer AAC Audiospur und arbeitet mit kompatiblen PC- und Mac-Anwendungen wie etwa Apple iMovie.

E.I.S. (Elektronischer Bildstabilisator)
Die kompakte TA1 ist mit einem E.I.S. System zur elektronischen Bildstabilisation ausgestattet. Verwacklungen von Hand, die bei kompakten Kameras und Camcordern auftreten können, minimiert er wirksam. Sogar im Gehen und bei Selbstportraits gelingen so klare, verwacklungsfreie Aufnahmen. Weit entfernte Objekte bringt die TA1 mit seinem elektronischen 4x Zoom gross heraus. Vergrössert werden damit auch die kreativen Gestaltungsmöglichkeiten für den Videofilmer. Mit den drei Effekt-Modi Sepia, Monochrome und Soft Skin können Videofilmer von leichter Hand eine gewünschte Bildstimmung erzeugen. Während die Videos im Sepia-Modus in eine warme Farbstimmung getaucht werden, erhalten sie im Monochrome-Modus eine kühle schwarz-weiss Stimmung. Der Soft Skin-Modus produziert ein zartes Hautbild. Eine integrierte LED-Leuchte erweitert die Einsatzmöglichkeiten der TA1. Selbst in dunklen In-nenräumen und bei Nacht gelingen so Aufnahmen mit der HD Mobil-Kamera. Der Einsatz der LED-Leuchte nicht beim Einsatz als Webcam möglich.

Die TA1 nutzt für Aufnahmen SDXC/SDHC/SD Speicherkarten. Die Speichermedien sind un-empfindlich gegen äussere Einflüsse und dank ihrer hohen Mobilität prädestiniert, um Auf-nahmen im Freundeskreis und in der Familie zu teilen. Auch für den Datentransfer zum PC ist die SD Speicherkarte bestens geeignet. Wer mit weit entfernten Freunden und Verwandten im Gespräch und Blickkontakt bleiben möchte, findet in der Panasonic TA1 eine smarte Verbündete. Die Video-/Fotokamera kann als Webcam für Skype, der Software-Applikation für kostenfreie Videoanrufe über das Inter-et, eingesetzt werden. Für Video-Telefonie mit hoher Bildqualität wird der Einsatz eines Hochleistungs-Rechners empfohlen. An der Unterseite ist die TA1 mit einem USB Stecker ausgestattet, der auf Druck zum Vorschein kommt. Auch ohne das sonst übliche Verbindungskabel und fernab des heimischen PCs können Anwender so Videos und Fotos schnell über eine USB Verbindung auf einen beliebigen Computer übertragen und ins Internet hochladen.

LE VOL MASSIF DE DONNÉES PERSONNELLES
L'avènement du Big data et du cloud est une immense opportunité pour les entreprises... mais c'est aussi un énorme facteur de risque. Le vol, l'exploitation et la revente de quantités importantes de données est rapidement devenu un business à part entière pour les criminels. A tel point que la législation européenne s'est durçie pour imposer aux entreprises d'informer leurs clients en cas de fuites. LinkedIn en a fait l'amère expérience lorsque le réseau social s'est fait voler les informations de 167 millions d'utilisateurs, qui furent ensuite mises en vente sur le marché noir.

L'ATTAQUE ÉLABORÉE
Si la plupart des attaques sont basiques et ciblent un maximum de victimes potentielles, certaines privilégient au contraire une approche subtile et patiente pour atteindre une cible spécifique. On les nomme APT, pour "advanced persistent threat". Elles conjuguent diverses techniques (spear phishing, social engineering) et s'étalent sur des semaines, voire des mois pour arriver à leur fin. Vue la débauche de moyens nécessaire à leur succès, elles ne visent généralement que les opérateurs importance vitales (centrales nucléaires, sites militaires...) ou les très grandes entreprises. L'Ukraine en a fait les frais fin 2015 lorsqu'une attaque de ce type a privé la moitié du pays d'électricité. Les banques sont également de plus en plus fréquemment visées par ces attaques.

LE DÉNI DE SERVICE
L'attaque de type DDoS, ou déni de service distribué, est la plus basique qui soit. Elle consiste à surcharger un serveur de requêtes jusqu'à ce qu'il ne puisse plus y répondre. Pour y parvenir, les criminels infectent préalablement un grand nombre de machines connectées à Internet et mal protégées : des ordinateurs personnels mais aussi des serveurs ou même des objets connectés. Ces machines "zombies" se connectent ensuite massivement et répétitivement à la cible et la mettent hors service. Les motivations de ces attaques varient mais leur conséquence peut être sévère pour les sites marchands ou toute entreprise pour laquelle le web est essentiel. Fin 2015, l'une de ces attaques a visé un réseau du gouvernement britannique, qui héberge notamment des universités et des centres de recherche, les privant d'Internet pendant plusieurs jours.

LE PIRATAGE MOBILE
Les smartphones ont aujourd'hui remplacés les ordinateurs en tant qu'outil informatique de base. Ils sont par conséquent devenus la cible de nombreuses attaques. Trimbalés par monts et pas vaux et regorgeant souvent d'informations sensibles, ils représentent des proies alléchantes pour les criminels, d'autant qu'ils peuvent servir de tremplin pour pénétrer d'autres systèmes. Même si leur interface simplifiée et leurs mesures de sécurité (code d'accès, chiffrement des données) donnent aux utilisateurs une illusion de sécurité, ils sont souvent vulnérables au travers de bugs et d'une absence de mises à jours. Le directeur du renseignement national des Etats-Unis l'a découvert à ses dépends lorsqu'un groupe d'adolescents a pris le contrôle de ses appels.
PHOTO VIDÉO Aux côtés de trois nouveaux téléphones Lumia, de la nouvelle tablette Surface 4 ou encore d’une nouvelle version de son bracelet connecté, Band 2, Microsoft a présenté mardi 6 octobre le Surface Book. Ce puissant ordinateur, qui se transforme en tablette de 13,5 pouces, est le premier de la firme de Redmond et est destiné à concurrencer le MacBook Pro d’Apple.

Après Google et sa tablette Pixel C, ses nouveaux téléphones Nexus et autres boîtiers Chromecast présentés la semaine dernière à San Francisco, c’est au tour de Microsoft de défier Apple. L’emblématique multinationale américaine fondée par Bill Gates a présenté mardi 6 octobre une nouvelle version de sa tablette, la Surface Pro 4, des nouveaux téléphones - les Lumia 950, 950XL et 550 - et leur système d’exploitation Windows 10 sur mobile, ou encore un nouveau bracelet connecté, le Microsoft Band 2. Mais surtout, Microsoft a dévoilé son tout premier ordinateur : le Surface Book. Et comme son nom l’indique, il est destiné à concurrencer directement le MacBook Pro d’Apple.

Le Surface Book est un ordinateur dont l’écran tactile - et détachable - de 13,5 pouces fait également tablette. Jusqu'à présent, Microsoft avait proposé l'inverse : des tablettes auxquelles l'on pouvait ajouter un clavier afin d'en avoir une utilisation proche de celle d'un ordinateur. Mais les capacités de ces tablettes restaient limitées. Le clavier du Surface Book est amovible aussi bien vers l’avant que vers l’arrière de l’écran, ce qui permet de replier l'ordinateur tel un livre afin de l'utiliser en tablette sans avoir à détacher le clavier. La tablette s'utilise également à l'aide d'un stylet : le Surface Pen ("stylo Surface). Ce qui n’est pas sans rappeler l’Apple Pencil ("crayon Apple”) présenté le 9 septembre comme accessoire accompagnant l’iPad Pro, lui-même fortement inspiré de la tablette Surface de Microsoft.

Equipé d’un processeur Intel Core i5 ou i7, le Surface Book est présenté par Microsoft comme plus puissant que le MacBook Pro d’Apple. Son prix est d’ailleurs supérieur : le modèle de base, équipé d’un processeur Intel Core i5, de 128 Go de stockage et de 8 Go de RAM, est disponible à partir de 1499 dollars en pré-commande. Le MacBook Pro 13 pouces avec écran Retina démarre, lui, à 1299 dollars ou 1449 euros sur le marché français.
Ford mise plus que jamais sur la voiture autonome. Le constructeur automobile américain annonce plusieurs investissements majeurs dans le domaine et affiche un objectif ambitieux : sortir une berline autonome sans volant ni pédale en 2021.

Ford veut la produire à grande échelle mais pas pour la vendre directement aux consommateurs. Il souhaite créer une vaste flotte de voitures sans conducteur destinées au marché de l'autopartage (taxi sans conducteur, navettes à la demande…). On voit bien des services tels qu'Uber ou Lyft devenir les premiers clients de ce Ford nouvelle génération… A moins que le constructeur ne lance lui-même un service de mobilité à la demande, comme le fait son concurrent General Motors avec sa marque Maven.
Il reste du travail avant de voir débarquer cette berline autonome sur nos routes. Ford en est conscient et amplifie ses efforts. Le constructeur va agrandir son centre de recherche à Palo Alto, avec deux nouveaux bâtiments de 14 000 m² qui sortiront de terre mi 2017. Il a l'intention de doubler son équipe dédiée au projet d'ici fin 2017. Le centre de recherche et d'innovation, ouvert en janvier 2015, compte aujourd'hui 130 scientifiques, ingénieurs et chercheurs. Il est l'un des dix campus de recherche du constructeur dans le monde.

DES INVESTISSEMENTS DANS DES START-UP
Ford mise aussi sur la collaboration avec les start-up. Il travaille aujourd'hui avec 40 jeunes pousses. Quatre nouvelles s'ajoutent à la liste. A commencer par Velodyne, dans lequel l'américain a investi avec le chinois Baidu. Cette entreprise installée dans la Silicon Valley est spécialiste de la technologie de télédétection par laser (Lidar) qui permet au véhicule autonome de "scanner" son environnement. Ford et Baidu veulent faire baisser le prix des scanners Lidar pour permettre la production de véhicules autonomes à grande échelle.

It’s worth thinking about tablets and smartphones too. "With company devices, you may choose to manage all aspects of security, including the apps users install,” noted Merry. "Or, you can have a BYOD scenario. In that case you can say: ‘It might be your device, but if you’re going to have company data on it then you need to protect it.’ Devices such as mobile phones have built-in encryption that you can activate.”Desktops and servers are rather less likely to fall out of pockets, but if you’re unlucky enough to be the victim of a burglary, you could be looking at a data-loss disaster. "You do get thefts from businesses – even large companies with big data centres,” warned Sian John. "And encryption is so easy to turn on now that it’s worth doing.”

The XPS 12 will be available from January 2016 and, to be honest, it’s a bit of a weird one. It takes the detachable hybrid recipe that has proved so successful in the firm’s Venue range of tablets and, by the looks of things, actually makes it worse.That starts with the appearance: for an XPS device, it’s surprisingly ugly. It’s mostly clad in matte-black plastic, squared-off unstylised edges, and only the kicked-up hinge at the back of the device serves to deliver any kind of visual interest. This is a detachable hybrid, so the idea is that it’s usable as a laptop but, when you want to kick back and relax, you can pull the two apart and use the screen as a tablet. The problem with the XPS 12 is that the part that joins the two together hasn’t been well thought out.First, there’s no hinge to speak of. Just a slot with a magnet holds the two halves together, and contacts provide power to the Bluetooth keyboard. There’s no adjustment available at all.

The base has no extra battery to boost stamina, and the magnet – at least in the "pre-production” versions I was shown – proved to be worryingly weak. So weak, in fact, that the tablet came loose from its moorings and fell to the floor during the demo session I attended. The tablet survived the drop, which proves it’s reasonably tough, and the rest of the specification looks impressive. The XPS 12 will come equipped with: I really liked typing on the keyboard. The keys felt cushioned in all the right places, while remaining positive in action, and the long travel just added to the comfort.That "Infinity Edge” IPS display looked simply gorgeously, bursting with deep saturated colours and sharp as a tack. Best of all, Dell’s engineers appear to have ironed out the problems I experienced when I reviewed the Dell XPS 13 earlier this year, namely the backlight bleed and over-aggressive dynamic contrast.

As for core components, the Dell XPS 12 I was using (the "Signature Edition”) was equipped with an Intel Core m5-6Y54 running at a nominal clock speed of 1.1GHz bursting up to 1.5GHz, had 8GB of RAM, and was running Windows 10 64-bit.Aside from this, details of the various options that will eventually be available in January were thin on the ground, and prices aren’t yet available either.However, given the oddly stilted design, I’m not sure it’s going to provide anything more than a passing challenge to the Microsoft Surface Pro 4, Google Pixel C and Apple iPad Pro.When you're trying to watch technology transforming something, it’s important to keep your eye on the wider picture.

The team at the Millpool Community Centre, to me, seem resolutely embedded in the smaller, faster moving week-on-week experience, with events both major and minor swirling around the infrastructure of the centre without pause or patience.That’s just about the most difficult situation in which to appraise change from the inside of the business: I can’t think of a more distracting or emotional customer than a wedding reception, for example.You may chortle a bit, thinking about punch-ups and best man’s speeches, and those still happen – but this is 2015, so we now have the wedding video being shown as a hot edit on a projector above the happy couple’s first dance. Which in turn becomes a great background for that inevitable selfie. That’s a push for transformative change in technology, if ever there was one.For me, this is quite some journey. I first came to Millpool over two years ago as part of PC Pro’s Business Clinic series – where we visit a company or business that has a specific problem, and aim to help it.

In the past six months, Millpool has been making the switch from their mishmash collection of difficult-to-manage consumer laptops to a fleet of business-ready HP laptops. They’re not expensive, by any means, but they’re easy to maintain… and to take back to mint condition, in terms of the disk image, in event of someone or other changing something they shouldn’t.For this, likely to be my farewell visit, I became the somewhat unlikely star of a computer clinic event, when people could turn up and ask any technology question they were troubled by.The first strong sign of transformation was both simple and absolutely indicative of the state of PC computing in the first quarter of 2015: Ross Marven, Millpool’s resident all-round support guru, had grabbed one of the laptops we set up during the last visit, backed up the as-delivered config, and put Windows 10 Technical Preview on it.

The radically different visuals of Windows 10 shone out in the fully-populated computer suite, even serving to distract the occasional iPad user from their touchscreen woes and firing up the mournful virus-laden laptop owners to consider a jump forward from Windows 7.The next sign was subtle. All through the day, there was a steady dripfeed of traffic and activity around the big HP printer that we’d installed at the same time as the laptops. While chatting away about this or that laptop problem, or trying to explain the peculiarities of rural broadband supplier choice, I was keeping my eye on the printing activity.

Mostly this was paranoia, after a very painful afternoon in my recent past, which I spent trying to explain the eccentric choices made by a certain Far-East printer maker’s Windows drivers: what should have been a fit-and-forget small business printer wasn’t due to the curious choice of paper sizes, managing to bemuse all the staff.I knew that Millpool had gone through a bit of staff turnover and that’s when working practices suddenly tend to jam up against unfamiliar or quirky business technology.Not this time! I ended up instead having a far more relaxed and even academic conversation about the merits of serif vs san-serif fonts in multi-column newsletter layouts. So, rather than having to make a grovelling apology on behalf of the printer maker, I was focusing on what really matters: the stuff being printed.So in this case, the transformation was so smooth that Millpool hardly noticed it while getting on with their lives and supporting their community.

Latest news: Don't forget that owners of Nexus handset such as the Nexus 5X benefit from being able to install and run Google's latest Android OS before anyone else. This year, however, Google is taking things a step further and has enabled over-the-air updates to Android N, making it far easier to try out the latest version of its mobile OS than it ever has been before. Enfin, Valve affirme que 1000 nouveaux utilisateurs de réalité virtuelle se connectent à Steam chaque jour. Ce chiffre inclut tous les casques compatibles Steam, donc à la fois le Vive et le Rift. Rapporté à une échelle mensuelle (30 000 utilisateurs), il est un rappel que le marché est encore balbutiant. Steam dispose aussi désormais de 600 applications de réalité virtuelle.
Comme souvent lorsqu'il s'agit d'innovation, les regards se tournent vers la Silicon Valley dès que l'on parle de réalité virtuelle. Mais les Etats-Unis (et l'Occident de manière générale) ne seront pas forcément le marché le plus prometteur pour ce nouveau média. Lors de la conférence d'Alibaba sur le cloud computing, qui se déroulait le week-end du 15 octobre 2016, HTC a tenu un forum sur la réalité virtuelle au cours duquel il a réaffirmé ses ambitions pour l'empire du milieu.

UNE PLATE-FORME MOBILE POUR COMBLER LE VIDE LAISSÉ PAR GOOGLE ET OCULUS
Le constructeur taiwanais y a fait plusieurs annonces, la première étant le lancement de Viveport M, une variante mobile de sa plateforme de distribution de contenu pour la réalité virtuelle. L'objectif de HTC est d'aider les développeurs, aussi bien chinois qu'étrangers, à publier leur contenu sur ce marché gigantesque duquel les plateformes américaines (Google Play Store, Oculus Store) sont typiquement bannies. Si Viveport reste anecdotique sur PC (surtout face à Steam), HTC pourrait tirer son épingle du jeu sur mobile... s'il arrive à mobiliser des développeurs, d'où cette opération séduction auprès de la communauté d'Alibaba.

La Chine représente le plus grand marché du monde pour les smartphones à l'heure actuelle, et d'après plusieurs études, les accessoires de réalité virtuelle mobile y seraient plus populaires qu'aux Etats-Unis. C'est un développement important pour HTC, qui sait qu'il sera perdant s'il se contente de jouer le rôle de simple fabricant de hardware en laissant à d'autres le contrôle de l'écosystème logiciel. Le média spécialisé UploadVR rapporte que les développeurs seront rémunérés à 50/50 avec HTC pour chaque achat sur Viveport. HTC a mis au point plusieurs ressources à destination des développeurs afin d'établir des bonnes pratiques, notamment sur les spécifications requises pour qu'un smartphone fournisse une expérience VR de qualité. Même si l'entreprise n'a rien annoncé côté hardware pour le moment et qu'elle affirme que Viveport M fonctionnera sur tout type d'appareil, on peut imaginer qu'elle a d'ores et déjà des projets d'accessoires en tête.

En effet, le Taiwanais fabrique les smartphones Pixel de Google, et il ne fait aucun doute que la prochaine génération de ses propres smartphones sera compatible avec Daydream, la plateforme VR du géant américain. Si HTC crée son propre accessoire de visionnage sur le modèle du Daydream View, il pourra faire d'une pierre deux coups en jouant sagement son rôle d'OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) sur le marché occidental mais en comblant le vide de la plate-forme de Google en Chine.

ALIBABA COMME PARTENAIRE CHINOIS
HTC, qui avait déjà passé en début d'année un partenariat avec Alibaba Cloud pour le streaming vidéo appliqué à la réalité virtuelle, pourrait aussi s'appuyer sur les services de celui-ci, comme par exemple Youku, son rival de YouTube. Alibaba travaille également sur une application d'e-commerce VR, baptisée Buy+. Outre le marché mobile, HTC a aussi annoncé Viveport Arcades, un service de réalité virtuelle à la demande à destination d'établissements type salles d'arcade, cybercafés (encore très populaires en Chine), bars à karaoké... Des HTC Vive seront installés dans des zones dédiées et les clients pourront payer pour s'y adonner. HTC offre aux développeurs la possibilité de rejoindre ce programme et d'être rémunérés en fonction du temps que passent les utilisateurs dans leur application. Viveport Arcades sera déployé dans plusieurs centaines d'établissements d'ici la fin de l'année, et HTC prévoit environ 2000 déploiements d'ici fin 2017.

Le programme débutera en Chine et à Taiwan (une boutique "vitrine" va être ouverte à Taipei), mais HTC vise le marché global et serait en discussions avec des partenaires aux Etats-Unis et en Europe. Une centaine de développeurs américains et chinois auraient déjà signé un accord. Intel fait l'acquisition de Movidius, un spécialiste des puces mobiles pour la vision par ordinateur. Il entend par là booster sa technologie de caméra RealSense, et renforcer son assise sur le secteur des drones et robots, ainsi que dans la réalité virtuelle et augmentée. Le géant du silicium Intel a annoncé lundi 5 septembre le rachat de Movidius, un concepteur de puces dédiées à la vision par ordinateur (computer vision), l'une des disciplines de l'intelligence artificielle (IA). Elles sont notamment utilisées dans la robotique, les wearables, les drones (elles permettent au Phantom 4 de DJI d'éviter les obstacles par exemple) ou pour la réalité augmentée (elles sont au coeur du projet Tango de Google). Les détails financiers de ce rachat n'ont pas été communiqués.

NVIDIA ET QUALCOMM SONT SUR LE COUP
Cette annonce fait suite à celle de l'acquisition début août de Nervana, spécialiste dans le deep learning et confirme le désir d'Intel de prendre une position dominante sur un marché de l'intelligence artificielle en plein boom. Sur ce terrain le fondeur fait face entre autres à NVidia et Qualcomm, qui comptent bien profiter de leurs expertises respectives dans le calcul hautement parallèle et dans les puces mobiles pour s'imposer. Intel était jusqu'ici dans une position relativement défavorable, car ses forces historiques dans les serveurs et les PC se prêtent peu aux applications mobiles liées à l'IA. Cette série de rachats pourrait changer la donne.

SE PLACER SUR TOUS LES MARCHÉS DE L'IA
Ils s'inscrivent par ailleurs dans la nouvelle stratégie d'Intel, focalisée sur les nouveaux secteurs de l'Internet des Objets, des wearables, des robots et drones et des réalités virtuelle et augmentée. L'acquisition de Modivius servira plus spécifiquement à améliorer la technologie de caméra RealSense sur laquelle mise beaucoup l'américain. La prochaine étape pour Intel serait logiquement d'acquérir MobilEye, le leader isréalien des puces d'intelligence artificielle pour l'automobile et dont les technologies sont utilisées par tous les constructeurs, y compris Tesla Motors. Il serait alors présent au cÅ“ur de la plupart des marchés clés de l'intelligence artificielle.
ANALYSE Des rumeurs de fusion courent sur les deux systèmes d'exploitation de Google, Chrome OS (pour ordinateurs portables) et Android (pour smartphones et tablettes). Une information que Google contredit mais ne dément pas, et qui s'avèrerait difficile à mettre en pratique. Pourtant, l'enjeu est de taille. Android est devenu l'OS le plus utilisé au monde, mais n'est pas adapté aux ordinateurs. Chrome OS connaît un succès d'estime mais ne peut se mesurer à Windows. Leur fusion pourrait permettre à Google de s'imposer sur tous les marchés et mettrait Microsoft en péril.

Le Wall Street Journal a publié une information de taille le 29 octobre : Google travaillerait sur une fusion de ses deux systèmes d'exploitation, Android et Chrome OS. Le développement aurait débuté il y a près de deux ans et la fusion serait achevée en 2017, avec une première version dévoilée au public l'année prochaine. L'OS gagnant serait Android, qui absorberait certaines parties de Chrome OS et deviendrait capable de tourner sur des ordinateurs. Les Chromebooks, ces ordinateurs portables majoraitement d'entrée de gamme qui utilisent Chrome OS, seraient en conséquence renommés.

Especially if you want a light, cheap device that can fulfil both your Netflix streaming and word processing needs.You wouldn’t peg the Pavilion x2 as a budget hybrid – far from it, in fact. Viewed from a distance, the Pavilion x2's tablet portion initially looks like it's machined from a single, finely-honed block of aluminium, and the clip-on keyboard is similarly refined.Of course, both are actually made from matte silver plastic, but until you actually touch the Pavilion x2 you'd be none the wiser. The angular edges and delicate speaker grilles cut a striking dash, and sturdy magnets firmly clamp the keyboard and tablet together. At 594g for the tablet, and 1.15kg all-in, it’s pretty light too. All told, the Pavilion x2 feels much more solid and expensive than you might expect.

And make no mistake, this is a capable little hybrid. Put your mind to it, and you can get some pretty serious work done. It’s impractical to have more than one window open on the tiny screen – the 1,280 x 800 resolution and modest Atom CPU make sure of that – but it’s easy to acclimatise. Once you build up a head of steam, you can combine deft swipes on the touchpad with regular use of Windows 10's Task Switcher, and once you get used to the smaller keyboard you'll hardly notice you're working on such a tiny laptop.It’s similarly easy to lose track of time: with the screen dimmed to 120cd/m² and Wi-Fi turned off, a 720p movie file looped continuously for 7h 51m. That’s not exemplary, but dim the screen further and modest usage could see you could go through an entire working day without reaching for the USB Type-C charger.

Unlike some of its hybrid rivals, the Pavilion x2 places all of its ports on the tablet – the docking keyboard doesn't offer any extra connectivity, nor does it house an extra battery. The tablet has a full-sized USB 2 port, a USB-C port for charging duties, a microSD card slot for expanding the device's paltry 32GB of eMMC flash storage, and a 3.5mm headset jack. The only minor disappointment is the presence of single-band 802.11n wireless networking – 802.11ac Wi-Fi would have been nice.A word to the wise: buy a microSD card to go with the HP. With nearly half of the supplied storage space occupied by the Windows operating system and its restoration files, you'll run out of space very quickly. I’d also recommend you spring for a decent pair of headphones while you’re at it. While the Bang & Olufsen branding and front-facing speaker grilles look promising, they're lightweight and lacking in bass and warmth.

Often a low-point for budget devices, it’s reassuring to see that HP hasn’t cut too many corners for the Pavilion x2’s display. The 1,280 x 800 resolution is underwhelming, but it’s a sensible compromise – avoiding any scaling issues on the compact 10.1in screen – and quality is decent too.Brightness reaches an acceptable 327cd/m² and the contrast ratio of 1,137:1 is top-drawer. Colours look a tad pale and lacking in vibrancy compared to the best tablets on the market – at the price, though, that’s to be expected.Performance is surprisingly sprightly. The quad-core processor does a decent job of keeping things ticking over, but a lot of the credit is due to Windows 10. The massively improved gesture controls and nippy Edge web browser make the whole experience noticeably more pleasant on low-end hardware.

For instance, load up an image-heavy web page in Google Chrome and the Pavilion x2 struggles – performance slows to a judder as you attempt to scroll up and down. By contrast, Edge handles things differently, loading text and then images, while keeping the scrolling action smooth and predictable. It’s clear that Microsoft had lightweight, low-powered devices in mind when it was working on Edge.Indeed, for basic usage, there’s little to moan about: the Atom processor and 2GB of RAM are sufficient. The modest eMMC storage means that there’s the odd pause here and there, but streaming Netflix is smooth and stutter-free and all but the most demanding applications prove usable enough.

Unsurprisingly, our multimedia benchmarks don't paint such a pretty picture, with an overall score of 9 showing just how limited the Atom’s processing power is. Bear in mind, though, that Alphr’s benchmarks are incredibly demanding: an Intel Atom processor was never intended to transcode 4K videos.There’s still room for improvement, then, but at this price there’s little to complain about. Right now, the HP is one of the best budget hybrid devices you can buy, and it’s a handsome little devil, too. Find it in your heart to forgive the paltry storage and middling screen, and you have a capable hybrid for only £220. A bit of a bargain, in other words.

Auf der SD-Karte aufgenommene Fotos können ganz unkompliziert in HD-Qualität über Panasonic Fernsehgeräte der VIERA Serie präsentiert werden. Dazu wird die Speicherkarte ein-fach in das Kartenlaufwerk des Panasonic VIERA TV-Gerätes, des angeschlossenen VIERA Image Viewers oder Blu-ray Disc-Players gesteckt. Wird die G10 über ein HDMI-Kabel direkt an einem VIERA HDTV-Fernseher angeschlossen, kann mit Hilfe der VIERA Link Funktion die Wiedergabe aus der Kamera (inklusive der Diaschau-Funktion mit fortlaufender Wiedergabe von Fotos und Videos, der Kalender-Ansicht usw.) mit der TV-Fernbedienung gesteuert wer-den. Ausbaufähiges System
Das Micro-Four-Thirds-System als Weiterentwicklung des FourThirds-Systems lässt sich ent-sprechend individuellem Bedarf erweitern. Neben den MicroFourThirds-Objektiven können an der G10 und den anderen Lumix G Modellen mit dem Adapter DMW-MA1 auch FourThirds-Objektive verwendet werden. Weitere Adapter erlauben den Anschluss von Ob-jektiven anderer Systeme. Panasonic bietet zudem die Adapter DMW-MA2M für Leica M- und DMW-MA3R für Leica R-Objektive an.

Neben der Verbesserung von Funktionalität und Ergonomie galt Panasonics Aufmerksamkeit bei der Entwicklung der Lumix G Micro-Systemkameras der bestmöglichen Bildqualität. Der 12,1-Megapixel-Live-MOS-Sensor im 4/3-Format vereint Vorteile von CCD-Sensoren bei der Bildqualität mit dem geringeren Energieverbrauch von CMOS-Sensoren. Für eine nuancierte originalgetreue Farbwiedergabe arbeitet Venus Engine HD2 ausserdem mit einer getrennten Gradationssteuerung für die R-, G- und B-Kanäle. So nutzt Venus Engine HD2 das volle Leistungsvermögen des hochauflösenden 12-Megapixel-Sensors aus. Neu beim Venus Engine HD2 ist die intelligente Auflösungs-Technologie. Diese neuartige Signalverarbeitung verbessert die Qualität von Fotos und Videos noch weiter. Sie erkennt drei entscheidende Bildbestandteile automatisch. Kanten werden betont und hervorgehoben, in fein strukturierten Bereichen werden die Details betont und bei kontrastarmen und unscharfen Flächen sorgt eine weiter verbesserte Rauschunterdrückung für gleichmässig softe Flächen ohne Farbstörungen. Die Bildsignalverarbeitung erfolgt dabei Pixel für Pixel auf die jeweils effektivste Weise.

Das Ergebnis sind natürlicher wirkende, lebendigere und schärfere Fotos und Videos als zuvor. Die Lumix G2 ist mit einem effektiven Staubschutzsystem vor dem Sensor ausgestattet. Es verhindert, dass sich bei Objektivwechsel eindringende Staubteilchen absetzen und in Form schwarzer Punkte im Bild stören. Dies geschieht mit Hilfe eines Ultraschallwellen-Filters, der 50’000 Mal pro Sekunde vibriert und so die Ablagerung von Staub und ande-ren Partikeln wirkungsvoll verhindert. Die Lumix G2 kann High-Definition-Videos mit 1’280 x 720 Pixel im AVCHD Lite-Format aufzeichnen, das bei HD-Videoqualität weniger Speicherplatz als Motion-JPEG benötigt. Dabei geniesst der Nutzer alle gestalterischen Vorteile der Wechselobjektive und des grossen Sensors mit seinem Schärfentiefe-Spielraum als Gestaltungsmittel. Mit einem Knopfdruck lässt sich die spontane Videoaufnahme starten, wobei die meisten im Fotos-Modus gewählten Voreinstellungen erhalten bleiben. Ein Windschutzfilter für den Ton unterdrückt störende Windgeräusche. Als Alternative zum AVCHD Lite-Format stehen das auf PCs weit verbreitete Motion-JPEG-Format mit 1‘280 x 720 Pixel-HD-Auflösung sowie WVGA, VGA und QVGA zur Wahl. Selbst Anfängern gelingen HD-Videos mit der Lumix G2 problemlos, denn der bei Fotos bewährte «intelligente Automatik»-Modus steht auch für die Videofunktion zur Verfügung.

Die Gesichtserkennung stimmt Belichtung, Autofokus, Kontrast und Hautton-Wiedergabe auf ihre Ziele ab, so dass diese optimal im Video wiedergegeben werden. Wel heeft Toshiba laten weten middels een e-mail dat de modellen beschikbaar zullen komen vanaf 999 euro, inclusief btw.Cheyenne Vermeulen gooide een linkje in de submit naar HSN.com, een groot on-line winkelcentrum. Op de site staat een Compaq laptop met een mobiele Athlon 4 processor in de etalage. De chip draait op 1GHz en omdat hij in de aanbieding is vraagt de winkel slechts 2000 dollar voor het apparaat. De mobiele Palomino wordt volgens de laatste geruchten komende maandag officiëel uitgebracht en de naam Athlon 4 lijkt hiermee dus bevestigd te worden. Overigens meldt VR-Zone dat er geen Duron 4 komt, deze processor mag ook bij de volgende core zijn huidige naam houden:

De Apple I kwam in handen van Clean Bay Area, een winkel waar mensen hun overtollige elektronische apparatuur naartoe kunnen brengen. Volgens een medewerker kwam een wat oudere vrouw een aantal dozen met oude elektronica brengen, zo zei hij tegen NBC Bay Area. Tot hun verbazing bleek dat er onder de spullen zich een Apple I-computer bevond.Dat er een Apple I-computer opduikt is tamelijk bijzonder. Er zijn maar ongeveer 200 exemplaren van gemaakt in totaal en het product stamt al uit 1976, de begindagen van de fabrikant. Clean Bay Area bracht de achtergelaten computer naar een veiling, waar het een bedrag van 200.000 dollar opleverde. Omgerekend is dat ongeveer 183.000 euro. Wie de computer heeft gekocht is overigens niet bekend.

Aangezien de vrouw geen contactgegevens achterliet heeft ze dus geen weet van de waarde van haar overtollige elektronica, die aan haar overleden man toebehoorde. Clean Bay Area hoopt haar op te sporen om haar de helft van de opbrengst te kunnen geven.NEC heeft een paar honderd notebooks met Crusoe processors moeten terugroepen vanwege een productiefout van Transmeta. Bij installatie van een nieuw besturingssysteem zouden de laptops met de defecte processors kuren krijgen. Transmeta beweert dat het om een eenmalig incident gaat en doet er alles aan om ervoor de zorgen dat eindgebruikers geen problemen zullen ondervinden met Crusoe. Voor zover bekend is dit dan ook het enige geval van foutieve processors:

News.com meldt dat Dell gisteren is begonnen met de levering van een nieuwe generatie Inspiron laptops met 15 Ultra XGA LCD display. Deze nieuwe schermen hebben een resolutie van maar liefst 1600*1200px! Goedkoop zijn de UXGA schoothondjes helaas niet: een Inspiron 5000e met 600MHz PIII gaat 5495 dollar kosten:

Die NEX-Kameras sind einerseits auf einfache Bedienung ausgelegt und bieten anderseits ein breites Spektrum an Funktionen und kreativen Möglichkeiten. Die Lösung aus dieser Schere besteht aus einem völlig neuen Bedienkonzept, das sich im Wesentlichen auf ein zentrales Einstellrad und eine ebenso ausgeklügelte wie vielfältige Menüführung auf dem grossen Monitor.Als weitere wichtige Komponente kommt eine integrierte Hilfefunktion bei nahezu jeder Einstellung hinzu, welche dem Anwender in einem kurzen Satz erklärt, welcher Bildeffekt zu bei der entsprechenden erwarten ist und worauf besonders zu achten ist.

Vorprogrammierte Szenenwahl-Modi passen automatisch Blende, Verschlusszeit, Weissabgleich und weitere Bildparameter für eine Vielzahl unterschiedlicher Aufnahmesituationen an. Es stehen dazu die Motivprogramme Porträt, Landschaft, Makro, Sportaktion, Sonnenuntergang, Nachtporträt, Nachtaufnahme, Dämmerung sowie manuelle Einstellung zur Verfügung. Abgesehen davon kann das Layout des Menüs in drei verschiedenen Farben angezeigt werden, je nach persönlichem Geschmack.Der Lächel-Erkennungsmodus verwendet die fortgeschrittene Gesichtserkennungstechnologie von Sony, um automatisch auszulösen, wenn eine Person im Bild lächelt. Die Empfindlichkeit lässt sich auf drei verschiedene Stufen einstellen, wobei eine Lächel-Anzeige auf dem LCD-Monitor erscheint.Hinzu kommen einige neue Funktionen der Kamera: «i.Auto» nennt sich die automatische Motiverkennung, welche in der Lage ist acht verschiedene Szenen zu erkennen, um das entsprechende Programm selbsttätig auszuwählen. «D-Range Optimizer» ist schon fast selbsterklärend: Die Automatik optimiert Lichter- und Schattenpartien, wobei fünf verschiedene Stärken gewählt werden können.

Eine sucherlose Kamera, die in ihrem Konzept völlig aufs Livebild ausgelegt ist, verlangt nach einem guten Display. Auch hier hat Sony bei den beiden NEX-Modellen noch eine Runde zugelegt: der 3″- Xtra Fine LCD-Monitor mit 921’000 Bildpunkten ist mit einer neu entwickelten Antireflexschicht versehen um Spiegelungen zu reduzieren und verfügt in ihrem Aufbau über eine spezielle Harzschicht, um die Schwarztöne dunkler zu halten und damit den Bildkontrast zu steigern.«TrueBlack» nennt Sony die neue Displayart, die wahrscheinlich auch schon bald in anderen Sony Kameramodellen zu finden sein dürfte. Weiter ist der Monitor in seinen «Sonnenschein-Modus» deutlich heller und damit ist das Bild in heller Umgebung besser zu erkennen. Im Vergleich zum Display der Alpha 550 sind das immerhin stolze 55 Prozent.

Der Monitor ist ausgesprochen flach ausgefallen und lässt sich 80 Grad nach oben und 45 Grad unten neigen (jedoch nicht seitlich schwenken). Zur Grundausrüstung gehört ein transparenter Monitorschutz, der die Bildbetrachtung kaum beeinträchtigt und empfohlenerweise immer auf der Kamera verbleiben sollte. Das Kontrasterkennungs-Autofokussystem der NEX-Kameras deckt sowohl die Bedürfnisse einfacher Anwendungen, bietet aber gleichzeitig professionelle Möglichkeiten für höhere Ansprüche.Im ersten Fall sorgen 25 Autofokusfelder mit automatischer, motivbezogener Selektion für scharfe Bilder. Will man es mit der Scharfeinstellung genauer nehmen, so lassen sich die Autofokus-Felder manuell auswählen, oder man kann ein einzelnes Feld anwählen, das verschiebbar als Spotmessung im Motivraum benutzt werden kann.

Bei dem Sinar Digitalrückteil Esprit 65 LV werden die Bilder mit einem CCD-Sensor mit 31 Millionen Pixeln und einem Bildbereich der fast zweifachen Grösse einer 35mm Vollformatkamera aufgenommen. Ihre QCIP-Technologie (QuadCore Image Processing) macht dieses Sinar Digitalrückteil zu dem ersten digitalen Mittelformatrückteil mit voll integrierter Bildverarbeitung. Einstellungen wie Kontrast, Sättigung und Rauschunterdrückung lassen sich direkt am Rückteil vornehmen und ermöglichen so eine einfache und schnelle Verarbeitung der Aufnahmen.Das Sinar Esprit 65 LV Digitalrückteil lässt sich auf Sinar H6, Hasselblad H1/H2, Hasselblad V und Mamiya 645 AFD verwenden.Der schnelle Datentransfer des Digitalrückteiles Sinar Esprit 65 LV ermöglicht Aufnahmen mit kurzen Bildfolgezeiten und das Speichern auf CF-Karte in DNG- und JPEG-Format. Für beste Aufnahmeleistung und Bildqualität unterstützt das Sinarback Esprit 65 LV auch das Sinar RAW-Dateiformat. Alternativ können die Bilder gleichzeitig in zwei Dateiformaten DNG+JPG oder RAW+JPG gespeichert werden. Aputure ist ein Zubehörhersteller, der unter anderem auf Fernauslöungen spezialisiert ist und seit 2005 immer wieder mit praktischen Erfindungen und neuen Produkten überrascht. Jüngstes Beispiel ist ein externer Bildschirm zur Canon 5D Mark II, der Fernaufnahmen aus bis zu zwei Metern ermöglicht.Das neueste Produkt aus der Ideenschmiede der chinesischen Aputure ist der LCD Winkelsucher Gigtube GT3C II zur Canon 5D Mark II. Gigtube steuert nicht nur das Auslösen der Kamera, sondern das Gerät verfügt zusätzlich über einen 2,5" LCD Bildschirm mit 230‘000 Bildpunkten, die 16 Millionen Farben wiedergeben. Mit dem Gigtube GT3C II ist es möglich, ein Motiv aus bis zu zwei Metern Entfernung (Kabel im Lieferumfang inbegriffen) zu fotografieren und das Bild vor dem Auslösen der Kamera in Echtzeit zu betrachten, was beispielsweise in der Tierfotografie oder in Gefahrenzonen ganz neue Möglichkeiten ergibt. Mit der notwendigen Energie wird das Gerät aus einem aufladbaren LIP Akku von 1000 mAh versorgt , die für eine Betriebsdauer von bis zu drei Stunden ausreichen.

Der Gigtube GT3C II ermöglicht das Fotografieren aus ungewöhnlichen Perspektiven, denn das Display lässt sich in verschiedene Richtungen verstellen: nach oben und unten in je 180 Grad, nach rechts und links je 270 Grad. Damit ist Gigtube bestens geeignet für Selbstporträts oder Langzeitaufnahmen. Wird der Gigtube auf den Blitzschuh aufgesetzt, dient er als zweiter Monitor mit Echtzeitbild, der sich besonders auch bei bodennahen Aufnahmen oder mit hohem Kamerastand bewährt. Der Gigtube wiegt 110g und ist 83 x 66 x 45 mm kompakt.Der GT3C II ist für die Canon 5D Mark IIkonzipiert, doch dürften bald Modelle für andere Spiegelreflexkameras auch auf dem europäischen Markt folgen, die in China bereits auf dem Markt sind.

Das «Creative Lighting System» von Nikon öffnet die Tore zu kreativem Umgang mit Blitzlicht. Dies zeigte kürzlich Joe McNally anlässlich eines NPS-Workshops in Zürich, der sofort ausgebucht und für die glücklichen Teilnehmer ein lehrreiches und unvergessliches Erlebnis war.Manche nennen es einfach «entfesselt blitzen». Nikon spricht vom «Creative Lighting System». Blitzlicht kreativ einzusetzen, das ist die Spezialität von Joe McNally. Seit über 30 Jahren realisiert der amerikanische Fotograf Reportagen und Geschichten für prestigeträchtige Magazine wie das National Geographic. Gerne rufen ihn die Redaktionen dann an wenn das Thema schwer umzusetzen ist. Sie wissen genau, dass Joe solche Herausforderungen liebt, immer eine Idee auf Lager hat und über das nötige Know-how verfügt, um diese zu realisieren. In Büchern und Workshops gibt er sein Wissen weiter. So auch letzte Woche als er im Rahmen eines von Nikon organisierten Workshops auf eindrücklicher Weise bewiesen hat, dass er dank seinem Gefühl und Wissen über das Licht aus jeder Situation Spannung in eine Szene bringen kann. Dazu braucht er keine aufwändige Studioblitzanlage, sondern kleine Kompaktblitzen wie es der Nikon SB900 ist.

HP is al lange tijd een grote speler op de markt voor zakelijke hardware, en notebooks horen daar zeker bij. Dat soort modellen kenmerkt zich onder andere door ondersteuning voor dockingsstations, uitgebreide support en de aanwezigheid van bijvoorbeeld een 4g-module, zodat je overal online kunt. HP is erg benieuwd naar wat de kritische community van Tweakers van een aantal van deze modellen vindt en organiseert daarom dit testpanel.Onder de zes deelnemers worden drie verschillende typen notebooks verspreid: een Elite X2 1012, voorzien van een afneembaar toetsenbord en een stylus, een Elitebook Folio, met een 4k-touchscreen en de Zbook Studio, die gekenmerkt wordt door zijn krachtige hardware. Elke tester krijgt een notebook thuisgestuurd en vervolgens twee weken de tijd om het product te reviewen. Na plaatsing van de reviews worden de drie beste testers vervolgens uitgenodigd op Tweakers HQ om de notebooks verder onder handen te nemen. Samen met HP schroeven de testers de notebooks bijvoorbeeld open om in detail naar de hardware en bouw te kijken, en zullen ze de dockingstations nader bekijken. Dit alles wordt opgenomen op video, waarvan het resultaat bij de reviews geplaatst wordt.

Alle zes testers krijgen na afloop een bedankje in de vorm van een HP Roar Travel Speaker ter waarde van 130 euro. Het aanraakgevoelige scherm van de P3401T-convertible heeft een resolutie van 1920x1200 pixels. De processor van de S3409 is een Intel Core i7 van Intels Kaby Lake-generatie en het apparaat kan maximaal beschikken over 8GB werkgeheugen. Opslag is in de vorm van een ssd mogelijk tot een capaciteit van 512GB. De verbindingsmogelijkheden bestaan uit wifi-ac en bluetooth 4.1, een usb-c-aansluiting, twee usb 3.0-poorten, een kaartlezer en een hdmi-aansluiting. De driecellige accu moet het tot maximaal zeven uur volhouden. Het gewicht van de laptop is 1,5kg. Medion kondigde eerder een soortgelijk model aan, dit is volgens Heise.de echter nooit beschikbaar gekomen.

Het apparaat doet volgens de reviewer van AnandTech precies wat het claimt. Het enige bezwaar is echter de toepasbaarheid en de prijs. Het apparaat moet namelijk 169 dollar kosten. Daarnaast is het de vraag hoeveel laptopgebruikers verlegen zitten om twee monitoraansluitingen. Volgens de reviewer zal het apparaatje alleen nuttig zijn voor zakelijke gebruikers.
Bij ZDNet is een artikel te vinden over de nieuwste ontwikkelingen van Apples Mac OS X voor computersystemen die zijn gebaseerd op Intel-componenten. Deze versie van het besturingssysteem zal volgend jaar op de markt verschijnen, tegelijk met de Apple-computers die gebaseerd zijn op Intel-processors. De site heeft de Intel-versie van Mac OS X geïnstalleerd op een Toshiba Portégé M300-laptop. Deze laptop is gebaseerd op Intels Centrino-platform en beschikt over een Pentium M-processor en een Intel 915G-chipset met een geïntegreerde grafische Intel-chip.

AVCHD bietet die bessere Bildqualität, benötigt weniger Speicherplatz und verdoppelt die maximal mögliche Aufnahmedauer. Auch die Videoqua-lität wird von der ZX3 dank der neuen intelligenten Auflösungs-Technologie noch weiter verbessert. Der Dolby Digital Creator sorgt für die hochwertige Tonqualität. Die Videoauf-zeichnung wird schnell und einfach durch einen Druck auf die spezielle Aufnahmetaste auf der Kamerarückseite gestartet. Aktuelle Kameraeinstellungen für Fotos bleiben dabei weit-gehend erhalten. Die intelligente Automatik macht auch gelungene Videos ganz einfach.

Seine wichtigsten Funktionen wie intelligente Belichtung, automatische Motiverkennung von Porträt-, Landschaft-, Makro- und LowLight-Situationen, Gesichtserkennung und verbesserter Power-OIS-Bildstabilisator kommen in der ZX3 auch bei Videoaufnahmen zum Tragen. Zoomen ist bei Video über den gesamten 8x-Zoombereich möglich. Mit der neuen Video-Teilungsfunktion können Aufnahmen schon in der Kamera geteilt und unerwünschte Teile gelöscht werden. Die intelligente Auflösung erlaubt es zudem, aus den 1’280 x 720 HD-Videos heraus einzelne Bilder in der HDTV-Auflösung 1’920 x 1’280 Pixel als Foto zu spei-chern. Ein Windschutz reduziert Störgeräusche beim Ton während der Aufnahme. Auf SD/SDHC-Speicherkarten gespeicherte Fotos und Video im AVCHD-Lite-Format können ganz einfach auf einem Panasonic VIERA TV-Gerät wiedergegeben werden. Dazu wird die Karte einfach in den Kartenleser des TV-Gerätes oder des angeschlossenen Blu-ray Players gesteckt. Über den HDMI-mini-Anschluss lässt sich die ZX3 mit einem optionalen Kabel auch direkt am VIERA TV anschliessen, um die Wiedergabe mit Hilfe der VIERA Link-Funktion mit der TV-Fernbedienung zu steuern.

Der Venus Engine-Bildprozessor wurde überarbeitet und seine Funktionalität in der aktuel-len Version HD II um die neuartige intelligente Auflösung erweitert. Damit ist eine differenziert Bearbeitung und Aufzeichnung von Fotos und Videos in noch besserer Bildqualität möglich. Sie erkennt entscheidende Bildbestandteile automatisch – Kanten, fein strukturierte Bereiche und kontrastarme, d.h. auch unscharfe Flächen. Sie betont die Kanten, akzentuiert die Detailstrukturen und sorgt mit ihrer weiter verbesserten Rauschunterdrückung für gleichmässig softe Flächen ohne Farbstörungen. Die Bildsignalverarbeitung erfolgt dabei Pixel für Pixel auf die jeweils effektivste Weise. Das Ergebnis sind natürlich wirkende, le-bendigere und schärfere Fotos und Videos als zuvor.

Und bei Aufnahmen mit hohen ISO-Empfindlichkeiten bewirkt die intelligente Auflösung, dass möglichst wenig bildgebende Details von der Rauschunterdrückung beeinträchtigt werden. Schliesslich ermöglicht sie auch die intelligente Zoom-Funktion. Sie steigert den Zoomfaktor virtuell auf 1,3x ohne sichtbaren Verlust an Bildqualität. Der multitaskingfähige Bildprozessor Venus Engine HD II beschleunigt auch die Kamerareaktionen. So ist die ZX3 nach 1,1 s aufnahmebereit und die Auslöseverzögerung beträgt nur 0,005 s, um auch spontane Motive auf den Punkt genau im Bild festzuhalten.Der schnellere Autofokus benö-tigt nur noch 0,26 s (Weitwinkel)/0,31 s (Tele, mit 1-Feld-AF)*, bis er sein Objekt fokussiert hat. Dabei geht der Venus Engine HD II so effizient mit der Energie um, dass eine Akkuladung für bis zu 330 Aufnahmen reicht.

Die intelligente Automatik der Lumix-Kameras koordiniert die entscheidenden Kamerafunk-tionen von Belichtung und Autofokus wie z.B. AF-Motivverfolgung, Bewegungserkennung und intelligente Belichtung mit Kontrastoptimierung. «iA» nimmt dem Fotografen die Arbeit ab: Er kann sich voll auf sein Motiv konzentrieren, während sich die Automatik um die Technik kümmert und selbst bei weniger erfahren Fotografen eine hohe Trefferquote an gelungenen Fotos garantiert. Panasonic als Pionier mit OIS weist mit die längste Erfahrung in Entwicklung und Einsatz der optischen Bildstabilisierung bei Kameras auf. Darauf basie-rend wurde das Panasonic-OIS-System laufend weiter verbessert und erreicht nun aktuell als Power-OIS mit verdoppelter Effektivität neue Höchstleistungen.

Power-OIS unterdrückt speziell niedrigfrequente Vibrationen, wie sie durch unruhige Hand-haltung entstehen und bei Aufnahmen mit langen Belichtungszeiten oder grossen Abbil-dungsmassstäben (Tele und Makro) zu Unschärfen im Bild führen. So ermöglicht er Fotos selbst unter ungünstigen Lichtverhältnissen und ohne Blitz, wenn dieser nicht möglich oder wegen der Stimmung des vorhandenen Lichtes vom Fotografen nicht erwünscht ist. Bei Foto- und HD-Video-Aufnahmem erkennt die ZX3 in der intelligenten Automatik «iA» den Motiv-charakter, und die intelligente Motivprogramm-Wahl aktiviert automatisch das am besten geeignete der sechs Motivprogramme Landschaft, Porträt, Makro, Nacht-Landschaft, Nacht-Porträt und jetzt auch Sonnenuntergang. Son programme pourrait également être utilisé en aéronautique. Dans les cockpits du futur, une série d'écrans remplacera probablement les centaines de boutons de navigation, prévoit Georges Lamy au Rousseau. Pour permettre aux pilotes de déplacer très rapidement la un pointeur d'un bord à l'autre de ces écrans, la souris physique n'est pas forcément l'outil idéal. Head Pilot pourrait l'être. Starnav travaille actuellement avec Dassault Aviation pour développer un système de commande à partir de ce logiciel, révèle le patron de la société normande.
Une école d'ingénieurs tricolore va certifier dès le mois de mars 2016 ses diplômes grâce à la blockchain, la technologie qui sous-tend le bitcoin. L'Ecole Supérieure d'Ingénieurs Léonard de Vinci (ESILV) a tissé un partenariat avec la start-up Paymium, plate-forme d'échange de bitcoins en euros, pour développer le programme nécessaire à cette authentification.

La blockchain est un registre public sur lequel sont inscrites des informations, partagées entre les ordinateurs de tous les membres d'un réseau. Tous les utilisateurs du bitcoin, par exemple, partagent le livre de compte sur lequel sont inscrites l'ensemble des opérations réalisées dans cette crypto monnaie depuis son lancement en 2009.
Le même système va être mis en place à l'ESILV : un réseau d'ordinateurs partagera un registre où seront enregistrés tous les diplômes des étudiants de l'établissement. Les filous qui voudraient contrefaire ces documents en seront pour leurs frais : ce système rend les diplômes quasiment infalsifiables, car pour transformer par exemple une mention assez-bien en mention bien, il faudrait aller dans chaque ordinateur membre du réseau pour modifier l'information... Accessibles en ligne (ce qui permet de faire des économies de papier), les certificats sont faciles à consulter pour les futurs employeurs des étudiants par exemple.

Les autres écoles du Pôle Léonard de Vinci, dont fait partie l'ESILV, devraient suivre le mouvement dans les prochains mois en adoptant la solution développée par Paymium. Pionnière en France, l'ESILV a été devancée aux Etats-Unis par l'école d'informatique Holberton School, créée en 2015 par trois Français à San Francisco. En octobre 2015, la structure avait indiqué qu'elle allait certifier ses diplômes grâce à la blockchain.
Il fut un temps où se connecter à ses mails hors du bureau était quasi-impossible. La direction de la sécurité informatique veillait jalousement aux "accès externes” à la messagerie. Les téléphones mobiles étaient réservés aux meilleurs commerciaux de la boîte. Une fois chez soi… on était plus au travail.

Aujourd’hui, cette situation paraît bien éloignée. Nos conversations, nos trajets et même nos nuits sont régulièrement interrompus par des gestes accomplis presque machinalement : trouver son téléphone, le saisir, composer nerveusement le code d’accès, tout ça pour vérifier que "ma réunion avec truc est déplacée”, "mon billet commandé ce matin est bien prêt” ou "c’est le moment de profiter de nos promotions exceptionnelles sur *truc inutile et hors saison* . Un long article d’Adrienne Lafrance dans le magazine The Atlantic se penche ainsi sur l’étrange destin du mail : malgré ses 45 ans, l’ancêtre a franchi avec succès toutes les étapes de la courte histoire du numérique, de l’ordinateur personnel à l’Internet en passant par le mobile (à lire ici). Résultat : les terriens s’échangent chaque année 75 000 milliards de mails. Soit 200 milliards par jour (je vous épargne les virgules).

En 40 ans, le mail est passé d’un outil de communication pour d’obscurs informaticiens au comble du trendy dans les années 90. Avec la démocratisation de l’Internet il est devenu ensuite le symbole des dérives du numérique : infobésité, dépendance à la hiérarchie, non-respect de la vie privée, piratage… Comment en sommes-nous arrivés là ? Quelles sont les alternatives ? Reprenons au début.
Le premier mail a quasiment mon âge : il fut envoyé en 1971 par Raymond Tomlison, ingénieur en informatique qui travaillait sur l’Arpanet, le réseau ancêtre d’Internet. À l’époque, joindre une personne qui n’était pas située physiquement et au moment de votre appel près d’un téléphone et dont vous aviez le numéro était une gageure. Tomlison et ses collègues inventèrent les principes du mail qui perdurent aujourd’hui : une adresse personnelle, séparée par un "@”, envoyée d’un ordinateur à un autre sans qu’il soit nécessaire d’être présent à la réception.

L’essentiel des fonctionnalités existaient déjà, mais pas l’écosystème technologique : ordinateurs personnels, Internet, navigateur, logiciels. Il a fallu attendre près de 20 ans pour que les conditions de l’adoption de masse soient réunies. En 1995, date du lancement du premier navigateur web grand public, un tiers des Américains avaient un PC et 14% à peine avaient accès à Internet. Le changement fut rapide : fin des années 90, "si tu n’avais pas d’adresse Internet (= mail), tu n’étais personne, ou quelqu’un de plus de 40 ans. À la limite de l’ostracisation” (cité dans l’article).

Pour des millions d’Américains, aller sur Internet signifiait exclusivement envoyer et recevoir des mails. Les gens adoraient le mail. Jusqu’au moment où ils ne l’ont plus adoré. Depuis 1995 le nombre d’internautes a été multiplié par 10, atteignant 3 milliards d’utilisateurs. Les plus jeunes boudent désormais le mail. Selon une étude Pew Study de 2012, les trois quarts des ados échangent des SMS et à peine 6% échangent des mails (ça met un coup de vieux non ?). Mail is for grand-parents : les apps de messageries comme Whatsapp, Snapchat, Messenger et Instagram sont plébiscitées par les plus jeunes avec au sommet de tout, le SMS. Nous jonglons quotidiennement avec une hiérarchie personnalisée de distractions numériques qui se développe à mesure que nous devenons insensible à certaines d’entre elles.
Pourtant, nous rappelle Adrienne Lafrance, le mail détenait dès sa création des qualités exceptionnelles :

il permet d’envoyer à distance un message à quelqu’un sans qu’il soit là pour le recevoir au moment de sa réception, améliorant ce que le fax et le répondeur téléphonique avait apporté comme possibilités
il est neutre, vous pouvez écrire à n’importe qui du moment que vous avez son adresse. Certaines entreprises comme Amazon en ont même fait un élément central de leur culture client. "Que votre destinataire soit votre meilleur ami, votre nièce, le patron de votre patron ou Beyoncé, rien ne vous empêche de leur écrire”. Les apps de messagerie ont au contraire été bâties sur le principe de l’acceptation mutuelle préalable, reproduisant les barrières de la vraie vie.
